Attorney General Jeff Sessions says he plans to stay in role, despite Trump’s comments about him

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Thursday that he plans to stay in his job despite the president’s public assertion that he would not have nominated Sessions to the post had he known that he would recuse himself from the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

At a news conference ostensibly meant to announce the takedown of an illicit online marketplace, Sessions said he had the “honor of serving as attorney general,” and he planned “to continue to do so as long as that is appropriate.” Asked how he could keep working, having apparently lost President Trump’s confidence, Sessions responded: “We’re serving right now. The work we’re doing today is the kind of work that we intend to continue.

“I’m totally confident that we can continue to run this office in an effective way,” Sessions added.

On Wednesday, the New York Times published an article about an interview with Trump in which the president said he would not have appointed Sessions attorney general had he known Sessions would recuse himself from the investigation into whether the Trump campaign coordinated with Russia to influence the 2016 election.

Confirms my suspicion — shared by some others here — that the NYT interview was staged for some strategic reason.

Then do your job Sessions.

Sessions has close to an open and shut case against the criminal Hillary and her DemBot crew and he recuses himself thinking it is some lofty ideal. No Session you enforce the law against the lifetime criminals. Your “ethics” recusal does not even come close to or even rise inside the same universe as what the Clinton’s have gotten away with during their corrupt careers. Trump is correct if he had known this about you Sessions to not hire your ass. Do your job Sessions like you said today. Doing your job is at least hiring a special counsel to investigate the criminal Democrats. Quit making excuses.

Maybe DJT is trying to get Haberman to use what she thinks is her deadly weapon - his real tax returns - and he’s playing Brer Rabbit in order to take out Mueller and Rosenstein amid all the confusion.

It is Obvious he has lost the confidence of not only the President but most Republicans, a man of honor would resign, but considering he accepted the post under false pretenses, honor is something he lacks.

Sssions needs to resign immediatelly.

Thr Russia investigations will go on at least 4 years, 8 years if Trump is re-elected. Sessions will be neutered that entire time.

Trump needs to fire Sessions IMMEDIATELY and replace him with someone who had nothing to do with the campaign. Preferably a pit bull ex AG from a conservative city.

It is correct at this time to assume that Sessions is being blackmailed by the Dems.

Since Sessions is being blackmailed by the Dems, Sessions has committed either disgusting or criminal acts.

Since Sessions has committed disgusting or criminal acts, he is no longer fit for any office.

Swamp wasn’t to play? We can play too.

Sessions will check on Trump's comments between naps.

Yet another 'ineffective" AJ and DOJ. Nothing new.

I have to be honest; every time I hear Sessions speak I shake my head. Not impressive. Sorry, don’t think he is that sharp to run this office. Russia aside, has to be someone stronger than him. Hell, bring Rudy or Ray Kelly in.

He may last until the end of the year but I doubt it. Negotiations are probably ongoing.

Recusal was greatest blunder of Trump administration so far, Sessions’ blunder. Made all following possible. Thank you Jeff Sessions. The country elected Trump and Sessions jumps in their to torpedo the election.
