Columnist Ann Coulter is a tall woman, and apparently, she spent some time selecting the right sort of seat for a person who needs more legroom on frequent flights, perhaps to avoid deep-vein thrombosis, or perhaps to fly more comfortably. She spent the time and paid the extra money to get an aisle seat in an emergency row on a Delta flight, which would have done the job.
For some reason, as the flight was boarding, the airline decided to move her seat to the window in the same row and seat a group of other passengers, perhaps because they had requested to be seated together. It might have been OK had the flight attendant pleaded for her cooperation; offered her a free something extra, maybe a drink; and apologized for the airline's poor planning or failed capacity to please all its customers. Instead, the attendant decided to go bureaucratic and stony, telling Coulter "I don't know" when asked why the seat Coulter paid extra for was being moved to a less desirable area. It was a perfect opportunity to coax a cooperative attitude, but instead, it lit the fuse on an angry, unsatisfied customer, which seems contrary to Delta's mission. All they had to do was say why, apologize, and ask for cooperation.
Instead of seriously apologizing for its failure to live up to their contract, which left Coulter on a miserable flight – and that is what this was – Delta decided, incredibly, to hurl a storm of sarcastic customer-service-type canned mechanical apologies, mock the $30 she paid, and then add some invective at her on Twitter. A few samples from the unhappy customer and the big airline's corporate office:

Well, I should say *try to* take a few goons with me; ain’t what I once was, but can be a pretty treacherous old geezer when the alternative is licking jackboots.
NO! Fly Delta, just eat a lot of BEANS!
I suspect that the more important reason that the picture of the woman was shown was to do an advance rebutting of a potential point that Delta could make that the move was done because of someone who was infirm, disabled or something like that.
Decades ago when I still had to fly, Delta was the worst. Surly, bitchy old stewardesses and generally diagreeable flight.
I would be shocked if the crew did not deliberately single out Coulter due to political hatred.
Because I cannot swim far enough?
Delta bought NWA. Repaited the airplanes and hired most of the Northwest staff.
I flew NWA a couple times a month out of Mpls and had a NWA gold card allowing an upgrade nearly every time I flew.
I flew to Buffalo, Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland, calling on steamship companies.
I’ve never had trouble with Delta. It’s the TSA clowns that are the worst. Since I live in Salt Lake and only occasionally travel to visit family in LosAngeles and Denver (700 and 500 miles) I’ve switched to driving instead if flying. The drives are beautiful (exc Vegas - LA section) and it’s cheaper considering car rentals and such.
Me too. The whole airline experience is a boon to the corporate “jet cards” and fractionals.
I’ve been having to position on the airlines more frequently and I look forward to trips like I do a visit to the dentist for a root canal.
Delta does not have access to nightly news. Ann Coulter does have access to nightly news.
I think Mark Twain spoke of this a bit.
Delta needs to shut the hell up but it is probably to late.
Libtards, One born every second.
I’m sure they did. Gonna give her back the 30 bucks.
She knows snarky. Delta does not.
For the past 5 years I and one or 2 others have driven across the country for competitions and in all the instances it was either as cheap or cheaper than flying, we’re able to take what we wanted/needed, didn’t have the hassle, saw cool places and met neat people.
Our longest straight run was return from Ennis NC to the SF Bay Area in 46.5 hours. If you don’t want to non stop there’s always low cost motels or sleeping on the ground :-)
2 reasonably healthy people with a decent vehicle can do 1500 miles in under 24 hours.
The airlines have adopted the attitude of the TSA, Since they treat us like filth before we get on, who cares if they shear the sheep after they take their money too?
Air travel is seemingly a low-class endeavor these days full of hostility, opportunism, short-tempers, and social-media antics. To think it was once a glamorous form of travel.
>> Cannot wait to see Ralph Kramden as a pilot.
LOL
Ann must have grown by 5-6 inches since I met her if she’s now considered “tall”.
I love Ann, but, why the Hell is she flying coach? I, alone, have spent enough $$$ on her books to bump her up to first. Coach sucks, but at least she can afford to work around it. Please don’t flame.

We have not had that issue or any other flying Southwest...might only happen in certain airports...
You could drive, you could take train.
or you want to go on vacation to places like Norway
You could take a boat.
unless you're way wealthier than I am.
I haven't flown in years....no way in hell I'd pay to fly to Florida every month. As far as given any city, none of them hold any attraction for me. The only place I'd go is somewhere else in the sticks, but I'm already in Maine...no need to get away from here.
