Cheap, illegal-alien labor has slowed down adoption of automation. The jobs that illegals have been doing, from everything from berry picking down to mowing lawns, can now be done by robots, and more cheaply than even illegal immigrants.
Millions of American-born gardeners, carpenters, field workers, and factory workers would get a raise or a job.

I am very suspicious of this. It reads like one of those rants that we all want to hear and are attributed to a known person only to learn it was crafted but a nobody. Another reason I am dubious is the Rocky Mountain News went out of business almost 10 years ago (2009). Tina Griego is also a liberal columnist. She has a Hispanic name. Do you think she would really write this?

A multiple of 20 million indigent people around the world could be helped in their respective countries of origin for the same number of dollars expended by taxpayers on these 20 million in the US.

If we got deported millions of illegals, the ‘welfare kings and queens’ would have to go to work doing the jobs being done by the illegals.
Thus deportation would reduce welfare costs by billions.
But then we would HAVE to fortify our Southern border - because if the illegals went home, Mexico would BURN.
It would be an even better experiment if all 30-40 million illegals left. It is an experiment that needs to be done. The illegals all need to leave to show America what it means to have to survive without their services, to actually have to endure more available jobs at higher pay and less of the quaint criminality that characterizes the largest groups of illegals and props up our justice system and drives the employment of evermore police.
A good start - does that include the illegal Chinese, Brazilians, etc? And can they take all the mooselimb rapugees too?

I’m not exactly sure about the economics of this, but there would be fewer fatality car wrecks, drunk drivers, and uninsured motorists, for darn sure.
Just last Friday we had another, middle of the day, drunk driving his panel van around a 50 mph corner on the interstate, rolls it, lights the whole damn thing on fire, and his compadre in the back gets BBQ’d.
These people can’t drive to save their ass. Almost worse than old Asian women.
WHEN 20 million illegal invading foreigners finally de-camp and return to their rightful home, is a day I await with “no (trucks) to give”.
