Dear Katy,
Im truly sorry youve been experiencing so much internal pain, and I agree with you that the thing that has sustained you has been the grace of God. And I appreciate how open youve been about your struggles. That cant have been easy to do.
But in the midst of your struggles, youre sending an important message to all your fans: All the riches and fame and popularity in the world cant buy you true happiness or inner contentment.
To go to sleep at night without sleeping pills, being at peace with God and yourself, to get up in the morning full of excitement for the new day, to live with a sense of joyful purpose no amount of money in the world can buy those things.
I know you grew up reading the Bible, so I hope you dont mind if I remind you of some verses you probably read as a child. Better is a little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble with it (Proverbs 15:16). And, Better is a dry morsel with quiet than a house full of feasting with strife (Proverbs 17:1)
Do these make more sense to you now?
I read that Johnny Depp has a full-time staff of 40 that costs him $300,000 per month and that he spends $30,000 on wine every month. And he must be flooded with notes from his adoring fans on a daily basis. But I bet hed be the first to tell you that he has more inner turmoil than inner peace.
Your friend Miley Cyrus recently said that she sees herself as genderless and ageless and not divided by human being, even animals. There's no me and them and there's no us and you, she said. I just want to be nothing. Do you think shes doing better since she gave up her gospel roots?
Katy, wouldnt it be wonderful to know some of the innocence you once enjoyed as a child? Wouldnt it be incredible to recapture the sense of safety you once felt in your heavenly Fathers arms?
You can have that again, but you need to fall into those arms afresh not holding on to your own agenda, not holding on to some of the fleshly things that brought you fame, not holding on to your control of the future. You must simply take the plunge and say, God, Im totally yours, body, soul, and spirit. Wash me clean with the blood of Jesus, and give me a brand new start.
Its not just a matter of going back to the old, since you probably have a mixed view of your upbringing. Its a matter of going forward.
If you do this, you will never be the same and you will never regret it.
Ive been married for 41 years now, and my wife Nancy and I met when we were both just 19 years old. We are fulfilled and content and in love, and its been a wonderful journey so far. How much would you pay to have a lasting, healthy relationship like this?
Obviously, there are millions of men who would do anything to spend an hour with you, let alone be in a relationship with you, but you know that relationships cant be bought and sold. Wouldnt it be amazing to be in a satisfying, long-term relationship where you felt secure, loved, and affirmed, without having to look over your shoulder to see the latest babe after your man? Thats the kind of relationship the blessing of God can bring.
I saw a story the other day about the newest gorgeous girlfriend of Leonardo Di Caprio, and when I saw it, I felt sad for him.
Sad, you say? Why feel sad for him?
Its because I doubt he has as much contentment with his bevy of beauties as a godly man, married to a godly woman, the father of three great kids. Perhaps that mom cant wear a bikini after giving birth to those little ones. And perhaps that dad doesnt have the looks or charisma or bucks that Leonardo has. But they have something far more priceless: a wonderful family and a committed relationship. And they have lasting love. Isnt that what you long for too?
I know that even godly people sometimes need psychiatric help, and Im certainly not criticizing you for getting that help. I simply want to remind you that there is a better way, and that way is found in the simplicity of following Jesus.
Sexual flings and tens of millions of followers and endless riches will never calm the storm that is churning in your heart. Only Jesus can give you true peace, and He offers it to you as a free gift. You just need to lose everything to receive that gift to say goodbye to Katy Perry and goodbye to everything that degrades your real purpose and calling.
Its time to find new life at the foot of the cross where, in a moment of time, every drop of guilt and uncleanness and shame will disappear for good. Think of feeling totally clean!
You said, I so badly want to be Katheryn Hudson that I don't even want to look like Katy Perry anymore sometimes — and, like, that is a little bit of why I cut my hair because I really want to be my authentic self.
But Im sure you know that cutting your hair doesnt affect your soul. You need a heart transformation.
Many people are praying for you, Katheryn, and God is ready to answer their prayers. Whats stopping you from surrendering?
Katy Perry is part of what’s wrong with our culture. She sings songs about how she kissed a girl and liked it, and about sex with more than 1 partner. And these songs get radio airplay with no thought that such songs are objectionable.
Songs such as these would have been banned years ago. We all know that. People such as her normalize more and more bizarre behavior and push envelopes and see nothing wrong with it.
Katy Perry. I heard of her, but never heard her. Who cares what she thinks or does? Not worth the time to write an “open letter” to.
I don't think there's any more to her than that.
Advertising works in the non-commercial realm as well. She's advertising depravity and perversion. You think it has no effect? Think again.
I have a letter for her: “F”. OK two letters... “FU”.
Your choice to remain ignorant of contemporary popular culture does not negate the impact that performers like Katy Perry make upon millions of young Americans.
Is this guy paid to type this stuff? Can’t TownHall find anyone who can write?
Live streaming of your psycho-therapy sessions? To me it indicates extreme narcissism, and is just bizarre.
This it the second posting today. One was to Trump. I hope he doesn’t read it. Embarrassing.
That is just the tip of her demonic iceberg. In the song E.T she sings of having an "alien" boyfriend, who has different DNA, and she is all ready to go with him.
You're so hypnotizing
Could you be the devil?
Could you be an angel?
Your touch magnetizing
Feels like I am floating
Leaves my body glowing
They say, be afraid
You're not like the others
Futuristic lover
Different DNA
They don't understand you
[Bridge]
You're from a whole other world
A different dimension
You open my eyes
And I'm ready to go
Lead me into the light
I don’t doubt that religion would help these people. Their lives have lost meaning. And meaning clearly does not come from anything like achievement or even having children (depp has at least one). For your life to have meaning, it has to matter. It has to be big in the small things. And for one, YOU HAVE TO FOCUS ON OTHERS sometimes. Stars are too self focused because everyone around them is also focused on them so they think they are the Sun, Existence itself.
And if I simply contrast Katy Perry with another big star of her age and caliber, Taylor Swift, I can’t help but see how Katy looks at the camera and makes herself up so differently. While both do costumes and role playing, Taylor seems to have a center, and her eyes look at “you” (who she’s speaking to or the camera) in a normal way. Katy’s look is more of a phony hiding from the world look, her eyes are a bit crazy as if she is always artificial.
My comparisons of famous people and my opinions of their decency or genuineness always involves a stuck elevator. I get the feeling that if I were stuck in an elevator with Taylor Swift, the two of us would use all our resources to figure out our fastest escape together. She’s drop all artifice and we’d get it done. I get the feeling that if I were stuck in there with Katy, she’d stay haughty and superior and probably flip out and not be much help.
Even her songs are less genuine than Taylor. They had a feud (well, Katy stole some important dancers from Taylor’s crew) and Taylor immortalized it in song. But when you listen to the lyrics, the ONLY thing she criticized was the act itself. (Bad Blood is the song). Katy has now answered it in song as well, but hers is directly ad hominem insults. She lives a lower caliber, uncomfortable in her own skin, sort of human. I hope she gets the help she needs. Fame has not been helpful to her psyche.
OK, what is a Kathy Perry and why is she so important in my life? She is nothing more than another hyped up entertainer who needs to be put on a front page to enhance her career. Singers come and go, but mostly go. Every once in a while they are in the spot light, but its a short stay as there is always someone on line in the wings to take over. Its all a publicity game, just get on the front page to be noticed, and say anything that will put you there.
The juxtaposition of the dyke haircut ( to be anti feminine) and breast augmentation (to be ultra feminine) is demonstrable evidence of her gender confusion and inner turmoil. She has no idea what or who she is but she has money. BFD.
The best therapist has lots of hair and four legs.
even money says the next therapy session includes a live streaming colonoscopy exam a la that other Katie...Couric.
Just when you think show biz people are beyond the boundary of civilized behavior they go out and top it with their LOOK AT ME!!!! doings.
KP amounts to nothing more than a glorified tramp and she chose that path. Much like Miley Cyrus who’s in even worse shape.
Won’t argue with you on the haircut, but I believe the breasts are God given.
Music, movies and pop culture in general, is all about the “prepping” of the populace so that when anti-christ makes his appearance, people will gladly receive him and with arms wide open.
