Concern is growing in a conservative, remote corner of Oregon as people start arriving in a national forest for a Rainbow Family of Living Light annual gathering, a counter-culture get-together expected to draw thousands.
Officials with the Malheur National Forest said this week that around 600 Rainbow Family members are already camped at a gathering site near Flagtail Meadow and that between 10,000 and 30,000 are likely arriving by July 4, when the multi-day event peaks with a prayer for world peace.
People with small children, those with disabilities and senior citizens were among those who wrote to the event's Facebook page, discussing the site near the town of John Day in eastern Oregon, accessibility and bus routes.
Some commentators expressed concern about keeping the place hygienic.

Might as well declare it an EPA superfund site right now.
For more on the “gathering” of nature lovers and why locals are a tad pissed.....
Bahahahahahaha. But, yeah.
Uh, what’s an epa? LOL!
No, counterculture would be a gathering of Conservatives.
Go to your local landfill or city dump and you’ll see what that pristine part of Oregon will look like after this congregation of lefty kooks depart.
There will be a mysterious outbreak of shigella soon, I predict. They end up practically wallowing in their poop by the time it’s all said and done.
Environmental hippies head out to destroy Oregon wilderness...
They pollute the earth they claim they love, and in the process become their own worst enemy................
Well, Rainbow represents hippies, and blacks and homosexuals in a wooded, probably hard to get to area (usually) so the mantra, “Hippies n’ ******s n’ queers, Oh MY” just might be apropos
Don’t the folks who supposibly protect our forests work for the Fed? And if so President Trump should fire Dem all for not doing their Jobs!!!
If we were in control we would all have free energy, everyone would be housed and fed and wed be having song circles every day.
About sums it all up.
Read up on the disorder, filthy mess and incredible local disruption this "Peace and Love" gathering of over 400,000 really was.
Leni
What is the carbon footprint of all these enviro lovers????
The question should be asked, since they bitch at all of us and lecture us about our carbon footprints. How much carbon will they spew in their celebration of mother earth? How much will they despoil the environment there, as they celebrate mother earth???
Isn’t it cultural appropriation, for them to hijack the Rainbow name? Don’t rainbows belong to the homosexuals???
Won’t homosexuals be upset if others try to take their name and symbol???
And those song circles would be mandatory. Oh yes. Nobody skips song circle.
Some Woodstock aftermath in the background.
Unless they’re queer families, they are guilty of cultural appropriation. The homosexuals now OWN the rainbow!
