A former State Department employee was arrested Thursday and charged with espionage for allegedly transmitting Top Secret and Secret documents to a Chinese government agent, according to an affidavit filed with the U.S. District Court in Alexandria, VA.
Kevin Mallory, 60, of Leesburg is a self-employed consultant who speaks fluent Chinese. Court filings show that Mallory was an Army veteran who worked as a special agent for U.S. State Departments Diplomatic Security Service from 1987 to 1990. Since then, Mallory has worked for various government agencies and defense contractors, maintaining a Top Secret security clearance. The Washington Post reports that Mallory was also an employee of the CIA.
Mallory faces life in prison under the federal Espionage Act, and could qualify for the death penalty if certain conditions are met.
According to court filings, Mallory traveled to Shanghai in April and was stopped by Customs agents at OHare Airport in Chicago after failing to report $16,500 in cash in his carry-on bags. A month later, FBI agents interviewed Mallory who told them that he met with two people from a Chinese think tank that he now suspects were Chinese intelligence agents.
The suspected operatives gave Mallory a special communications device to securely transmit documents, which he claimed was only used to transmit two unclassified white papers on U.S. policy matters.
However, when FBI forensics searched the device, they found several other documents which Mallory believed to have been deleted, according to the affidavit. One message from Mallory to the suspected Chinese agent read your object is to gain information, and my object is to be paid. The Chinese agents response was reportedly my current object is to make sure your security and try to reimburse you.
Upon further analysis of the device, investigators found four classified documents three of which were designated as Top Secret. According to the affidavit, Mallory was asked why some of the information at the top and bottom of certain pages was redacted to which the alleged U.S. spy responded that it was to conceal the Top Secret designation so that Unless read in detail, it appeared like a simple note, along with an assurance that the information was valuable.
Mallory appeared in court on Thursday wearing a gray tank top and black athletic shorts, and requested a court-appointed attorney. He was ordered held pending a Friday afternoon detention hearing.
The building might be a Condominium or Apartment Complex.
Hmmm he was getting paid by the Clintons.
That is not enough of a deterrent. Start by tearing his face off and let him watch as it is fed to pigs. Then move onto his penis, legs, etc. Until dead. Record it and then make all gov. Employees watch it.
I also like the CIA vending-candy thieves’ firings story.
They’ll never arrest and charge Killary, a jury of her peers would never convict her unfortunately.
What I’m most interested in is who can this guy finger.
Hillary is even worse. Uranium.
Loudoun County (Leesburg is the county seat) is the richest county in the United States.
This is not even that ritzy a house for that area.
They finally arrested Hillary? #thankyoujesus
Yeah i know, /sarc
A James Bond wanna be perhaps? Didn’t he learn how to transfer, hide, and convert illegal money, or did he miss that course? Now if he had had a Diplomatic Passport, well no problem.
Don’t shoot him-someone else has to clean up the mess. He’s a nice looking fella. Just let him be somebody’s bi-ch for the rest of his life.
“When was the last time that we actually executed someone for espionage?”
Ethel and Julius Clinton, er um, Ethel and Julius Rosenberg were executed.
Considering the size of this guy’s house, in the ultra expensive Washington D.C. area, espionage must have been a well paid “second job.”
All in due course.
Step 1: Bust low-level crooks.
Step 2: Get them to sing.
Step 3: Bust Hillary (and perhaps Obama)
Nice looking house for someone who was probably a GS 11 or 12. Those veterans benefits must have been mighty sweet.
Not all that grand a house for the neighborhood.
But there are some very nice properties there:
OTOH, you could look at this one:
Up the charge to giving aid and comfort to the enemy, ask for the death penalty, and no plea bargaining. Following conviction and sentencing, let CSPAN telecast the hanging of this traitor. Then let his carcass rot off the noose.
We need a precedent when it’s Hillary’s turn.
