Jon Ossoff's $23 Million Loss Shows Dems Have No Idea How to Win in the Age of Trump
The Daily Beast ^ | June 21,2017 | Patricia Murphy

Posted on 06/21/2017 7:02:48 AM PDT by Hojczyk

When the full returns are counted, Republicans here will have to ask themselves why the race was so close in a community that Mitt Romney won by 23 points in 2012, and also what Handel did right to keep her own fortunes separate and apart from Donald Trump’s Tweet storms.

But Democrats will have more soul searching to do. They are now zero-for-four in special elections since Trump became the president and need to understand why.

They’ll be quick to say the Ossoff race never should have been so close, which is true. And that Ossoff won in a sense just by being competitive in an R+10 district, which is sort of true.

But after $23 million, a candidate who genuinely ignited the grassroots, and a Republican president who may or may not be (but probably is) under FBI investigation and can’t stop talking about it, the real question Democrats need to answer is: What’s it going to take to win an election in the era of Trump?

As of Tuesday night, they still have no idea.

And the Republicans need to be sure they don’t get “cocky” over this win and screw up.

They're not "cocky" (wrong vowel!), but the good ship RNC Screwup is still running its regular service.

The democrats might try to find a candidate that actually lives in the district.

Is that a snow flake button? I don't know but last night snowflakes from Georgian and coast to coast had a hard night sleeping.

A special good night to SnowFlakes across America. Sleep well! President Trump will be there, watching over you!

The demos are bankrupt on solutions.

Bankrupt on solutions? Hardly.

The Dems have a ton of solutions (that are half a century old, and have never worked).

You would be correct. But progressivism actually goes back to about 100 years ago. It just doesn’t work.

I heard a local guy tell the reporter it was 30 million.

And of all the reporting on ossoff’s loss, NOT A ONE said it was because of the dems trying to remove our President. Not a one said it was because we are fed up with the dems. That ovation they gave our President when Handel thanked him... they didn’t think it important.

On Fox they sightly hinted at it, but if it had been obama, they would have swooned.

Will they ever tell the public the truth!! Don’t tell me they don’t understand all this..

This is awesome. The left continues to believe that throwing wads of cash at some moron buys results, but they hate America and the actual election process so much that they refuse to participate and make the effort to actually vote. The Republican wins and they spend months in hysterics, disillusioning even more people with thier disgusting behavior. Hopefully even moderate, civil democrats (if there are any) are sick of them.

Well that supposed $18.8 million must of been super secret spending because we saw almost none of it down here in GA.

Would LOVE to know where they got that “$18.8 million in outside spending” for Handel.

The political parties are in a small window of flux where they have not caught up with the demographic change.

While these elections are good for us in the short term and are giving us (another) small window to right the ship, they aren't entirely good news.

The future of the Democratic party belongs to POC. Right now, old white people are running it. They are still running candidates that appeal to the shrinking white majority and can typically cross over to the POC vote.

Tihs doesn't excite the more radical elements of the POC vote. As we see in London, once they have the numbers, they vote as a bloc (at least initally) for any non-white candidate.

Sometime, in the very near future, the DNC will stop running white candidates.

If the Dems WERE winning elections, they’d still be losers.

It’s a wonder those folks can still procreate, being that stupid.

Who got the sales commission for selling the advertising time?

Just one of the rabbit holes that I’d like to look into.
