Jon Ossoff's $23 Million Loss Shows Dems Have No Idea How to Win in the Age of Trump
The Daily Beast ^ | June 21,2017 | Patricia Murphy

When the full returns are counted, Republicans here will have to ask themselves why the race was so close in a community that Mitt Romney won by 23 points in 2012, and also what Handel did right to keep her own fortunes separate and apart from Donald Trump’s Tweet storms.

But Democrats will have more soul searching to do. They are now zero-for-four in special elections since Trump became the president and need to understand why.

They’ll be quick to say the Ossoff race never should have been so close, which is true. And that Ossoff won in a sense just by being competitive in an R+10 district, which is sort of true.

But after $23 million, a candidate who genuinely ignited the grassroots, and a Republican president who may or may not be (but probably is) under FBI investigation and can’t stop talking about it, the real question Democrats need to answer is: What’s it going to take to win an election in the era of Trump?

As of Tuesday night, they still have no idea.

“Price won district, large margins, five times”

And that is why you have to be worried about Price as a member of the Trump administration. But I understand what Trump is trying to do trying to bind the GOP together.

Don’t look at me. I m a bigtime trump supporter.

I’m just saying i wouldn’t overstate it by saying that Democrats have no idea how to win in the age of Trump. The fact is, they can and do win in many places.

That's just what was spent by his campaign officially. the total was more than 2.5 times that, based on previous reports and tallies of total contributions, especially from out of state.

Unless of course, like a good little rat, it was "one for you, two for me"

Does anyone investigate the campaigns of losing rats?

“Californian dems spent 40 mil to watch a donkey get screwed, they could have spent 5 bucks in tijuana instead.”

That’s wrong, in Tijuana, the donkey is the “screwor,” not the “screwee!”

DUH…the pundits can’t figure out how Handle’s win was a mere 6% when Price had garnered a 30 point win last Nov. It’s because Democrats didn’t even bother to put up a creditable candidate when Newt Gingrich or Tom Price were running in that GOP district. However, the Black vote and Bernie vote came out in force this time because the Democrats spent so much money for Ossoff and the Democrat media was pumping up his prospects, so they thought they finally had a winner. Turns out they didn’t.

Republicans here will have to ask themselves why the race was so close in a community that Mitt Romney won by 23 points in 2012,

Well, Trump only won by 2 points, so the GOP is making progress and the Dems are going backwards. It's a RINO district, which is why Romney did so well.

Republicans here will have to ask themselves why the race was so close...

She won at 5.6%

Had THEY won with that figure, the headlines would be:"Osloff win in a landslide. Big blow against Trump..."

You notice they say "was so close" but don't include the figures...

What is going on with the woman on the left!?

Is that her `soma’ kicking in? Seems blissfully out of it.

There is nothing that the left will win, as the Nation’s people have finally realized how morally bankrupt the left is.

Yep. The author seems to be broadcasting a call to the left to brainstorm on substantive ways to become a viable party and win another election, somehow.

They should try being human beings instead of the pod-people they are.

One freeper noticed that the idiot ossoff was actually trying to sound like Obama in his concession speech. Sure enough... Good analysis.

Being very old let me inform some what happened. 50 years ago the Democrats and Republican would compete to out-American-Patriotism each other. It was a race to the top.

Today is the other side is always evil and always wants to push grandma off the cliff and kill your children. Identity divisive politics. Now it’s a race to the bottom.

Run some online searches and try to find the spending totals and votes in one article.
