Often people can only take so much pressure before they seek to release it in rash and sudden ways, throwing caution and a careful consideration of consequences to the wind.
There were good signs when President Trump was elected that many Americans were entering into that kind of moment. And now, with millions realizing just how widespread and deeply rooted are the problems cool-and-collected President Obama had helped us emotionally paper over, the urge to find release in rash words and deeds is kicking into overdrive.
Theres talk of a cold civil war, a bitter longing for national divorce, and now, fresh interest in a convention of the states to add several big constitutional amendments. However gratifying the fantasy may be of renewing our founding charters virtue in this way, its ultimately unwise and misconceived...
Although organizers and supporters feel sure that they would control the tempo of change and define the content of the changes, the truth is that nationalist and populist sentiment today tilts more to the left than it does to the right. Once the constitutional seal is broken, pro-liberty convention supporters would be stunned to discover how quickly the initiative could be taken away from them and delivered into the hands of socialist-leaning reformers ready to hardwire permanent general entitlements, under the language of fundamental rights, into the law of the land...

“Cool and collected Obama” created divisions.
The only thing he “papered over” was his hatred of America.
Convention of states: worst idea ever.
COLD may be a misnomer.
Some kinds of stupid can’t be fixed
I’m waiting for a John Brown moment from one side or the other. Apparently shooting a congressional leader wasn’t enough.
After this week Cold is not the word.
America is destroying itself from within so the terrorists can wait off shore for now.
At almost 80 years old and still quite physically able, I have nothing to lose and will fight the “domestic terrorists” until my end. I did not serve my country to let those bastards take it drown.
Exactly. He was another smooth talking Bill Clinton. The difference is Billy was a liberal and Hussein was full blown socialist.
Mr. Cool upon taking office, went on his infamous World Apology Tour for everything American, while bowing to every potentate except the Queen of England.
Mr. Cool set back race relations with his "He (Trayvon) could be my son" and "They (cops) acted foolishly" and "They bring knives, we bring guns" and having his AG investigate Fergueson and on.
Mr. Cool denied out right of sovereignty with his stupid Dreamer policy.
Mr. Cool gave Iran money to further their nuke program with little to no verification they would stop.
Mr. Cool did so much more that wasn't "cool", I won't go further. We all know what he did.
Cool is not what I want in the President of the United States. I want an uncool President who puts America and our citizens first and foremost.
I’m just a pup at 74 but I’ll stand with you proudly as a Veteren.
(hat tip Kenya Sunday Standard)
DID PRESIDENT OBAMA ACTUALLY DO ANYTHING FOR HIS HOMELAND?
<><> 2 billion US tax dollars to the Muslim Brotherhood,
<><> $50 million US tax dollars to his tax-exempt foundation in the form of a grant to Kenya.
<><> Total US Foreign Aid to Kenya (FY 2012): $749,236,440
<><> $418M arms sale to Kenya

A Kenyan lawmaker told the nation's Parliament last month (March 2010) that Barack Obama was born in Africa and is therefore "not even a native American."
During debate over the draft of a new Kenyan constitution, James Orengo, the country's minister of lands and a member of parliament for the Ugenya constituency, cited America's election of a Kenyan-born president as an example of what can be accomplished when diverse peoples unite:
"If America was living in a situation where they feared ethnicity and did not see itself as a multiparty state or nation," Orengo posited, "how could a young man born here in Kenya, who is not even a native American, become the president of America?"
Orengo held up the U.S. as a country no longer "living in the past," since Americans elected a Kenyan-born president without regard to "ethnic consideration and objectives."
Debate is then recorded in the Kenyan government's official March 25, 2010, hansard a traditional name for printed transcripts of a parliamentary debate as continuing with no other MPs mentioning or attempting to correct Orengo's comments about Obama.
The only peaceful solution is full and unconditional surrender of any and all who oppose the destructionist left.
That would also be the most bloody of the options since it would lead to a Stalin type purge of both everyone who opposed the destructionist left plus all the activist useful idiots who supported the destructionist left as well as anyone in the way of promotions for the more sociopathic of the destructionist left.
We’re at the fight or be enslaved point that has often come up in human history.
I got to the ‘cool and collected” Obama bit and wanted to shake this anti-constitutionalist!
Out of the ballpark well said!
And thank you for your service to our country.

Try reading the article in context. If you think the author was praising Obama with his "cool-and-collected" phrase, then you're dumber than a box of rocks.
And opposing a Convention of States does not make one and anti-constitutionalist
Absolutely correct!
I do not trust any lawmakers to “improve” our US Constitution.
After all look how affordable health care has improved since our lawmakers passed the Affordable Care Act...
RE:

He ridicules a balanced budget amendment, and I tend to agree. Because it is hard to control spending but only too easy to balance" the budget by arbitrary increases in tax rates.A balanced budget stricture would only be effective if it limited prospective spending this year to revenue in hand from last year. In effect, a one-time borrowing of the same amount of money that you took in last year - and spending only that money this year. Rather than raising tax rates and assuming that the revenue next year will be proportional to last years revenue. Which, in the case of the capital gains tax in particular, has been disproven whenever it has been tried.
Same old tired JBS talking points. Ho hum. Yawn.
I’ve listened to Mark Levin’s case for the COS numerous times and he makes a good case but the idea scares the hell out of me. I think it would spin out of control. The reason
it will is the same as the reason we need it in the first place. The ruling class leftist will hijack it and bye bye 1st,2nd,10th amendments and god knows what else. What we needed was a terminator AG who would go after the renegade Judges right off the bat. Instead we have Mr. Rodgers who couldn’t wait to recuse himself.
"Convention of states: worst idea ever."
Please note that the product of a constitutional convention is not a new amendment to the Constitution. The product of a constitutional convention is a proposed amendment to the Constitution, which the states can chose not to ratify.
And if the states chose not to ratify a proposed amendment then the constitutional convention that produced it was arguably a waste of time.
