In one of the last segments on Sundays Reliable Sources, CNN host Brian Stelter spent nearly four and half minutes whining about the public, specifically Trump supporters, who dont believe the news media. If you don't believe the media, then you probably don't believe that the Trump administration has had a dysfunctional few months, he chided at the start of the segment. If you don't believe the media, you might not believe Russia's meddling in last year's election is a very big deal.
Stelter admitted that the distrust in media started long before President Trump, but he rested its current state at Trumps feet. And the President feeds that inherent distrust with tweets like this. Here he is this morning saying: The fake news MSM doesnt report the great economic news since Election Day, he read from a cheery picked tweet. He then pointed to a poll to show how this anti-media rhetoric is having a real effect:
"A new Quinnipiac poll shows that more than half the country, 52 percent, believes Trump has changed attitudes towards the news media for the worse. 22 percent say hes changed attitudes for the better. And 20 percent say he hasn't had an impact."
He then brought on political analyst Jeff Greenfield to confer, asking him: How corrosive has this antimedia campaign been, do you think?
Greenfield thought it was the singular political success Trump had had since being elected president of the United States. I think that has served that relentless campaign on Twitter and in his comments, fake news, fake news, fake news has been to convince that group of people that there is no such thing as a set of facts independent of your politics, he complained. And that has certainly served to continue and accelerate what you've talked about as a long process of declining trust in news.
Stelter described any and all discussion of the presss dishonesty as venom and called it the story of the decade in media. And he didnt know how to solve the problem of an aware public. It's kind of like Sisyphus. You got to roll that stone up the hill, Greenfield explained, saying that eventually, people might come around.

There is a legal term, I have forgotten what it is but it means that once you catch someone lying to you then you must assume that everything else they say is a lie.
That’s what has happened to the news. They’ve been caught lying and now people do not believe anything else they have to day.
Of course it does not help that they keep on lying.
“I just don’t get it - I keep telling you lies and you keep distrusting me. Who else you gonna listen to?!”
Dog Excrement Bemoans Inherent Dislike The Public Has With its Smell
>>CNN does not like it that people dont trust them.<<
And things like staging a “protest” with a specific leftist agenda, filming it as if it happened on its own, then DENYING it despite video evidence only confirms it: CNN=falke news.
They’ll like it even less come the day we start hanging them from the nearest bridge. Which is precisely what they deserve.
The public recognizes the fifth-column leftist media as traitors.
Really? Tongue-wagging liars are concerned no one believes them?
>>Nothing they can say or do will get them believed again.<<
Trust is earned. CNN has squandered what little they had. It will be next to impossible to earn it back.
CNN could care less about the competition. The advertisers will stay, because to do otherwise would set the liberal elements in the boardrooms crazy.
This is ALL about Jeff Zucker, his standing in the liberal social circuits, and his determination to prove to Trump that HE, and the few liberals at the top of the media set the agenda, not him.
I haven’t trusted the media since LONG before Trump.
After the media successfully hounded Nixon out of office, they have thought they were the be-all end-all of all things “American”.
Fuq the media, CNN especially.
Or spend the next 5 years telling the unvarnished truth about EVERYTHING, regardless of political agenda.
I trust them to provide the Marxist/Globalist perspective 24hrs a day.
KEEP CNN EMPLOYEES AWAY FROM CHILDREN
Why do the people need to come around? Their job is to record history not to bring people around to their way of thinking.
It makes me happy to know that it’s getting to them. Maybe they can stage more fake news and that’ll win us over for sure. lol He’s desperate because he knows there are way more of us than it is of them.
Wonderful commentary. Thanks
I can look outside to see the weather. I can use the internet to see forecasts.
I can watch sports with the sound off so as not to get the fluff and politics.
I can read the news to get the gist of things.
I read. I think. I don’t need ‘the media’ to do either FOR me.
The problem is, we have the arbitrators of fake news, commenting on the fake news, as not fake news.
The ironic part is that CNN tried to start this Fake News meme as a way to discredit Conservative media. Now the Fake News label is firmly associated with the mainstream media and CNN in particular.
