In one of the last segments on Sundays Reliable Sources, CNN host Brian Stelter spent nearly four and half minutes whining about the public, specifically Trump supporters, who dont believe the news media. If you don't believe the media, then you probably don't believe that the Trump administration has had a dysfunctional few months, he chided at the start of the segment. If you don't believe the media, you might not believe Russia's meddling in last year's election is a very big deal.
Stelter admitted that the distrust in media started long before President Trump, but he rested its current state at Trumps feet. And the President feeds that inherent distrust with tweets like this. Here he is this morning saying: The fake news MSM doesnt report the great economic news since Election Day, he read from a cheery picked tweet. He then pointed to a poll to show how this anti-media rhetoric is having a real effect:
"A new Quinnipiac poll shows that more than half the country, 52 percent, believes Trump has changed attitudes towards the news media for the worse. 22 percent say hes changed attitudes for the better. And 20 percent say he hasn't had an impact."
He then brought on political analyst Jeff Greenfield to confer, asking him: How corrosive has this antimedia campaign been, do you think?
Greenfield thought it was the singular political success Trump had had since being elected president of the United States. I think that has served that relentless campaign on Twitter and in his comments, fake news, fake news, fake news has been to convince that group of people that there is no such thing as a set of facts independent of your politics, he complained. And that has certainly served to continue and accelerate what you've talked about as a long process of declining trust in news.
Stelter described any and all discussion of the presss dishonesty as venom and called it the story of the decade in media. And he didnt know how to solve the problem of an aware public. It's kind of like Sisyphus. You got to roll that stone up the hill, Greenfield explained, saying that eventually, people might come around.
{..snip..}
Spot on, buddy. You are the enemedia.
"And I always come back to the same question, what do we do about it?"
Takes a while to rebuild trust, but you could start by reporting the news rather than trying to "shape the narrative" or "afflict the comfortable" or whatever the hell else you think you think you have been doing.
Nothing they can say or do will get them believed again.
I haven’t trusted the media in many years. I am glad to see a lot of others catching up.
One thing the media doesn’t realize yet is that after they’ve lost someone, it takes a long time to get them back. In fact, they may never gain trust again.
This. Coming from the Communist News Network.
The socialist-democrat propaganda department is totally clueless as to why their propaganda only affects less than half the US population.
“Dear Media: You have no idea how much we hate you and how fake we know you are!”
Classic Donald Trump. Thanks or posting.
How many outright lies does CNN think it has available before losing viewers?
ONE is too many. Especially when it is repeated for days and weeks.
CNN and much of the media are more interested in pushing a [false] narrative than in presenting actual news. In effect, they perceive themselves as a propaganda instrument in furthering the progressive movement.
On the off chance that someone with CNN or like media reads this let me tell it true.
We understand that you are leftist to the core. Socialism is your dream even when you think of yourself as “not that extreme”.
There are vile politicians. There are leftist academics that hate the American ideal. But there is no worker destroying our nation equal to the national media person. As you travel the nation and see all the people, realize if they knew your employment and trade they would walk away from you at deaths door.
The things you have said about Our President when he was Candidate Trump, the things you said about his family, his business, his people he works with, what you tried to do to him with Gloria Allred and Billy Bush, and others, and you want to blame President Trump???
Not in this life you won't...we have sat back and watched, listened and read the lies, twisted around to make your stories the way YOU wanted them NOT the way the TRUTH is, if TRUTH hit you in the face you wouldn't know what to do about it...your phony, your disgusting, your an embarrassment to the very foundation of this Country...
I hope the FCC pulls every license there is for any media out there...lying SCUM!!!
CNN, isn’t that the “network” that stages protests?
Never watch them.
Big news is a President spying on Americans, weaponizing the IRS and other flagrant abuses of the Republic. Coverage of that by the brown-nosers at CNN was more like cover-up and suck-up. Die you dinosaur scum, die!
I completely do not understand this. I mean if I was claiming to be an impartial journalist well I would regularly be trying to push my conservative views, I would know I was being dishonest.
“CNNs Stelter Bemoans Inherent Distrust The Public Has With Media”
Bank robbers bemoan the inherent distrust that banks have for bank robbers as well. You know, just sayin’ ...
The media wasnt trusted well before Trump.
We don’t just distrust them. We hate them.
Dear Brian Stelter,
Knowing the Mediascum like you are thoroughly dishonest and untrustworthy is a first step on the road to political enlightenment.
So sorry if this inconvenient truth makes you uneasy.
Sincerely,
America
“CNNs Stelter Bemoans Inherent Distrust The Public Has With Media”
After rendering the media landscape completely barren of truth by promoting nothing but complete fabrications, the enemedia is like a pack of locusts who’ve stripped the land down to dirt and then complain that there’s nothing left to eat.
“CNNs Stelter Bemoans Inherent Distrust The Public Has With Media”
Right. CNN and the rest of the lying enemedia made their bed with nothing but fabricated fictions and now they’re whining they have to lie in the mess they made. Boo, F-ing, Hoo.
