Who has the power to undercut Trump's position? Nobody! It is well accepted that any president can renege on a previous president's "executive agreement," and the UN has no power other than what the US gives it. Congress can always implement all or part of the paris Agreement via legislation, and the usual political forces play there.
Long story short, the legal mumbo jumbo just lost to justified brute force.

He played it smart. Did not deny or confirm climate change, but showed it was not about the environment but about wealth redistribution.
I had to explain why to a woman I visit who only has basic cable and has to watch MSM. Of course my first outburst against globull warming was the fact that the earth is heated by the sun and that the trees and plants need carbon dioxide. That’s what started the conversation.
The speech was wonderful and I hope that all tree huggers realize it’s always been about the money. I do want our water and air clean, but that’s already covered. just enforce the laws against the perps like the EPA.

I thought I would comment because it is being breathlessly reported everywhere that Trump can’t do what he is doing.

I share your sentiments that AGW is a Lie - however the more I think about it, I agree with the President's approach.
He just focused on the financial charade of wealth distribution embedded in the 'Paris Accord' fiasco. I never heard about this 'Green Fund'. I was only half-listening - but it sounded like another scam designed to rip-off America.
The way President Trump laid out his argument, it will be very difficult for the Media propagandists to spin this as a bad day for America. Although I'm sure they will do their utmost to pitch that message.
Had the President directly attacked the Big Lie, that would have been the only message spun by the Media. 'President Trump denies 99.999% of the scientific community - and now we are all going to die...'. Instead - President Trump's message was clear - this Paris Accord was a scam. It simply stole money and jobs from Americans and did zero to address CO2 reduction. Forget about going after the fact that CO2 is not a pollutant (it is good plant food).
And another sad fact is that it will be virtually impossible to beat back the 'Big Lie' from the progressive kool-aid drinkers in this Country. They have already swallowed it. There will always be weather - and every time there is a heat wave, or a freeze, or a hurricane, or tornadoes -- they will always claim it is evidence of AGW.
It would be good if the President could have some of his underlings try to educate the masses (and maybe change a few minds) - but it would be best if he could avoid this mud-wrestling, if possible. Particularly since it seems like this Paris Accord could easily be attacked as just being a financial disaster for America - and forget the invalid premise upon which it was based.
