A high school in North Carolina has collected all of the yearbooks that were distributed to students due to some inappropriate comments, including President Trumps (in)famous phrase Build That Wall.
The News & Observer reports the Trump quote made by a Richmond Early College High School senior was slammed on social media by some students and others who called it racist and hurtful to classmates.
Thankfully for the school, only a smattering of the books had been given out before the offensive statements were noticed by Principal Tonya Waddell.
The district did not provide any other examples of what was deemed improper, but noted no students were disciplined.
Comments on both the News & Observer piece and school district Facebook post run the gamut from claiming the schools actions violate the First Amendment, to the school has every right to do as it wishes regarding the yearbook.
Perhaps there was something worse than Build That Wall in the book; if not, it seems the school would be on dubious constitutional grounds. Immigration is legitimate political topic, and construction of a border wall is a legitimate, albeit partial, solution to the illegal immigration problem.

Censorship writ large
Good fences make good neighbors.
Idiot anti Americans in charge of that school
So, when does the book burning start?...................
That ‘censored’ quote will live in infamy in the minds of every student in that school, as well as, outlive the life of the yearbooks. LOL
I’ll write a quote about race and IQ
My comments: Sanitized for your protection.
Et tu North Carolina, Et tu?
When I was in high school, there was a delay in distributing the year books because one kid somehow got a roach clip into his picture and the school didn’t catch it until the book went to the publisher. I bet that wouldn’t cause a recall these days. Times have changed.
Education Indoctrination Centers are pushing group-think? Shocking I tell you - shocking.../s
The President of the United States comments censored by some stupid liberal totalitarian ‘teachers’. They should be fired.
Sue under first amendment. Free speach and it passed the edit by their Year Book Cmte and therefore was not “objectionable” and contained no profanity nor slurs.
The school missed their chance to edit it, so tough luck folks.
I love that logo!!! We need to start a GoFundMe page to build the Wall.
Good thing they didn’t write MAGA in it!
And forced to repay their salary back to the taxpayers.
What if he said “protect our Borders” or “keep America a sovereign Country”?
Sue the district for 25 billion dollars.
This action obviously makes much more sense that issuing a quote sized sticker to place over the message if you deemed it offensive.
Good thing there are highly educated administrators at that school.
(/s to the nth power)
