Thanks, watching in between getting some websites created.

I like that it started off with border security- that was my main question/concern. Lots of freepers have conflicting information on it, and I’m waiting corroboration on some statements (page #s in the bill, since reading the whole thing is out of the question for me)

Hikers remind me a lot of skydivers. They come in may forms and backgrounds, united in a common pursuit of an interesting, challenging and meaningful experience, with a shared affection for the same. For the sake of mutual gratification, and peace on the playing field, somebody along the way figured out it’s best to leave things like politics back at home, otherwise people get too wound up and somebody invariably gets butt hurt.

Here’s a couple of adages that I’ve picked up from other hikers that can be applied to a lot of worthy endeavors.

HYOH hike your own hike

YMMV your mileage may vary

Hiking was never on my bucket list, or for that matter on any to do list either, but walking 7.5 miles a day to the chow halls, to eat my 3 daily meals, while working in Iraq and Afghanistan, gave me time to think about hiking, as my hiking companion “over there” lived near the trail in CA, and had hiked the entire PCT (2,650 miles) six times over the course of his life. We had many conversations leading up to my conversion. Lol.

I will be going back to work-work, once I get these last 900 miles knocked out. FWIW- I have about 4 months of temporary work coming up starting in June.

It wouldn’t hurt to carry a few items in a fanny pack just in case something happened while on your hike. Cell phone, whistle, bear spray, medical tape, poncho, space blanket, water, fire starter, first aid kit, knife, cord, bug spray, hiking poles, etc. The idea being that if you became disabled and had to overnight out in the field, you would be able to survive extreme weather exposure.

They make a personal locator beacon device to help a SAR team find someone that is lost or disabled. One such piece of equipment is called a SPOT device. It’s bought outright then a subscription is purchased to keep you in touch with a monitoring agency.

Stay safe out there.

[I really wish Trump would veto this. He has the power, he needs to use it. Not give it away.]

What sickens me is how these legislators callously use unborn babies as pawns for their DEALS. HOW MANY BABIES will be murdered by Planned Parenthood this summer through September?

Life should “TRUMP” everything.

The wall lets little critters through. A ‘win’ for environmentalists. QUESTION: Will it be electrified?

Thank you Dolly for all your effort in keeping the train running on time and on the damn tracks !

I have been out and away- camping with my brother and his coworkers about 20 miles south of Flagstaff. It’s something that they do once a year during the last weekend of April. For the past 5 years, I’ve been away hiking the PCT in CA, OR, and WA, so this was my rookie year to be with them. It got down to 23 degrees, and was a nice respite from the low 90’s that we’ve been experiencing here in the metro PHX. area. Our campsite was in a National Forest of Ponderosa Pines and Alligator Juniper, with some Cedars and Oaks scattered about, at an elevation of 6,700’.

I plan to work up in the Sierra Mountains again this summer. I’ll see if I can do better this year and make a post now and then, even though bandwidth is at a premium- $50 a day. Yikes. We employees can slip onto the www for a brief look-see now and then, at no cost, when the paying customers are idle.

Be back shortly, I’ve got some chores to do before my brother gets home.

No rest for the weary ! How well you know. ;0)
