I would not be alive today were it not for every single circumstance that took place, to include the availability and proper use of an AED.
I'll state the obvious that I could not perform resuscitation on myself due to being unconscious, but would attempt to revive someone using CPR, and yes- if alone, I would have to stop compression's and then conduct the electrical stimulation to a subject. Having said that, one would stop compression's anyway, even if teamed up with another person, to avoid being shocked.

I didn’t know there was an unspoken trail protocol. Interesting. I would gather that would apply to all trails.
I haven’t talked much to other hikers. Mainly because I’m not out there for an extended time. Just day hikes. And I try to pick the time in the place where I won’t run into others. Somehow communing with nature, feeling God’s presence, being overwhelmed by the majesty of it all – is ruined if I have company along that talk nonstop. And the women hikers I have had the misfortune to invite themselves along, do just that.
I have to be more careful here than I did in the Sierras. I could go out the back door of my cabin and take trails that are the least traveled – primarily because I made myself – and be at little risk of seeing anyone. In fact I think I’ve seen more bears than people! Here, there’s a lot more undergrowth, as well as rocky terrain and creeks. Making ones own path would be slow going and then the following year it would be overgrown again!
So I stick to the main ones, falling in creeks now and then, like today, lol. Fortunately, one doesn’t have to be coordinated or even terribly athletic to hike and enjoy the beauty. Just determined to do it. Luckily I get the chance to do it every day. For now, until I get a real job.
I do envy you your freedom and adventurous spirit. It must be wonderful to walk away from civilization and immerse oneself 100% into the experience, rather than just a few hours a day. Enjoy it for me, and of course keep in touch. Living vicariously is second best :-)
What’s interesting is he really likes her. And I think animals are a good judge of character. The grass was too tall for him in one spot and since I have arm problems, she carried him for me. He gave her lots of kisses :-)
She and her husband raise cows, kind of a hobby that makes a little money. They have a blind onethat she takes special care of. On the way back from the hike we stopped so she could help lead it back to the barn. It gets lost in its little pasture. She does have a kind heart. Maybe that’s why she think she has to be a liberal – she’s believed all the press about how many Republicans are. I’m hoping to show her otherwise.

I hope your economy-boosting outing was successful! I’m still smiling about our friend’s $200 purchase of cat toys :-). No doubt he is pushing the Trump economy along as well.
It’s interesting, we moved here to go Galt. To live a simple life and quit supporting the fascist government. But as soon as we did that Trump was elected and now we don’t want to just sit back and be left behind. Or maybe I should say, not contributing to what will be a roaring successful economy. It just seems wrong. So hubby got a job and I will start my spice business. It will be exciting! (Too bad cats don’t need spices - I know of a customer if they did, lol)
Oh and I fell in the creek on my walk. I hope yours went better.!

No. Hubby did what had to be done and buried him. We think the buzzards smelled that he was sick and not doing well so went in to attack him breaking his back.
