RNC Chair: Base Will Walk if We Don’t Build Border Wall

Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel warned fellow Republicans that voters “are going to hold us accountable” if “we do not keep the campaign promises that were made,” during an interview Wednesday on “The Laura Ingraham Show.”

McDaniel predicted many Americans would be frustrated by the news a downpayment to start construction of the border wall would be dropped from a must-pass spending bill in Congress this week. Noting that building the border wall was “front and center” in Trump’s 2016 campaign, the RNC chair insisted that “our voters are going to expect us to act on it.”

“I know that our voters are going to hold us accountable in 2018 if we do not keep the campaign promises that we made,” McDaniel said. “And so, when you get to Washington, sometimes you forget what was said outside. And it’s important that we bring that back to Washington and let them hear what the voters expect of this government and this president.”

LifeZette editor-in-chief Laura Ingraham referred to reports of GOP leaders “sitting behind closed doors” and laughing at the prospect of building the wall, to which McDaniel warned those lawmakers are “going to lose the trust of our base.”

> Yet the Democrats still hold the power.

F.D.R. completed the transformation of the Federal Government into a wholly owned subsidiary of the Democratic party.

Mid Term elections ..... tick tick tick .

My move as chief cook and bottle washer would include but not be limited to stopping all foreign aid south of our border...... Mexico as well as the rest of Central and South America “until” that wall, a security infrastructure both physical and electronic in depth, layered overlapping redundant systems is in place , tested and functional.

My opinion only.

No wall, no vote !

Walls work, and our's needs to be tank resistant:

The Israeli example: modular stressed concrete , effective and inexpensive:

Absolutely. No compromises. No kicking down the road. MAKE IT HAPPEN or we WILL WALK.

Mark my words; NOT BUILDING THE WALL will shatter the Trump Presidency. It will.

Don't you all get it?

We want MEN who keep their promises.

I would rather have the entire world collapse and the government shut down as long as Donald Trump is trying everything in his power to make the wall a reality.

The base will walk if they don’t do a lot of things — border wall, repeal Obamacare, pull out of the Paris Global Warming boondoggle.

I don’t agree with you, I think there are a lot of people who want to repeal and REPLACE Obamacare.

30% of Americans have pre-existing conditions of some sort.

But I agree with you on the border.

Trump, this is (very) important. Critical.

Build it. Now.

Well...say what you want about her but she's right about this. I saw Byron York on a talking head show, forget which one, last week and he said that he has a buddy in the GA GOP who told him that they're having a huge turnout problem in Tom Price's former district. Republicans aren't worked up about the race. And York immediately made the point that those voters are NOT upset with the President but they ARE disgusted with the GOP in Congress...to the point where they aren't convinced electing a Republican is worth the effort.

Now, of course, Trump will get the blame for a GOP loss but this mess should be put right where it belongs. On Paul Ryan's desk. He has been an unmitigated disaster as Speaker from day one!

Trump needs to grow a pair of cajones and quit caving into liberal marxist dems, AND quit caving into liberal activist judges, regarding sanctuary cities and airport screening, etc. So far the dems & liberal judges are winning every battle. C’mon Trump....send out an EO that nullifies any & all activist judicial rulings. And by the way, withhold federal funding from any public or private university that allows screaming kids & violent protestors to shut down conservatives free speech.

“...Where are they going? To the Dems? Libertarians? Sit home and default to the Dems?”

We’ll all end up voting like Conservatives in California: “taxation without representation” and all.

And just exactly what DO you do when you not only aren’t represented by your Representative, but have little hope of EVER being represented by ANY present or future Representative? What then?

Is it — ultimately — American Revolution II?

OK. So, when’s the Tea Pa—

Oh. Wait...

Absolutely. If this continues, the RINOs can expect to be primaried by patriots who aren’t afraid to do what the people elected them for.

That's a Romney at RNC. That is the Uniparty in charge. Whatever primary you think is gonna happen will be a scam just like the Georgia seat with countless vote splitters to ensure the safety of the designated RINO. It would take a Herculean ( Trumpian ) effort to beat that ploy which is exactly why there are 200+ RINOs in the House today.

This was the first and perhaps costliest mistake that President-Elect Trump made. In exchange for taking Rinse Penis into the White House he should have hand-picked his replacement. And that replacement should have been Sarah Palin. And she would have ensured primaries for all 435 House seats regardless of their seniority and prestige.

I don't know how this Romney got herself in there but it must have happened when Trump was meeting with Mitt. This single mistake means the Uniparty can just wait out the Trump administration. Maybe 2 or 3 million people doing the TEA rallies would help, but what good will it do if there is no candidate on the ballot worth voting for?

Whatever this Romneyette said to Laura on the radio was for public consumption only. They talk a big game when they have nothing to lose, and right now they have nothing to lose. She no more believes in the wall than she does the Second Amendment.

So how does Trump and the GOP think things are going to pan out when the only legislation to be successsfully passed is large tax cuts that disproportionately benefit the rich, while ignoring his promises of reforming immigration, globalism, and all the rest of populist agenda he won his campaign on? Unless he makes a complete u-turn and soon he can forget about a secound term. Same with the Republican Congress.
