Children think it's cool to be transgender and they're trying the self-identity out in droves, claims an Australian psychiatrist.
Psychiatrist Stephen Stathis, who runs the gender clinic at Brisbane's Lady Cilento Children's Hospital and is responsible for diagnosing gender dysphoria, reports that “many” youth are “trying out being transgender” in order to stand out.
Apparently, declaring oneself “transgender” is trendy. “One said to me, ‘Doctor Steve ... I want to be transgender, it’s the new black,’” Stathis related.
Dr. Stathis also says many girls want to be transgender as a result of sexual abuse. “The girls say, ‘If only I had been a male, I wouldn’t have been abused,’” Stathis explained.
Some are so convinced their life would be better if they were the opposite sex that they do something drastic or permanent. “I’ve seen genital mutilation, some who try to cut off their penis,’’ Stathis said.
Australia began a new, government-funded "gender service" for children at Lady Cilento Hospital, which expects to assess 180 youth this year. The goal of most of the gender-confused children is to get puberty blocking chemicals and/or sex change hormone treatment.
Most patients, however, are simply going through a common phase of adolescent life, Stathis explained.

One look at tumblr, and you can tell the whole transgender/50+ genders/personal pronouns thing is some kind of weird fad with teens. Many of them will undoubtedly grow out of it in a decade.
I guess saying "I'm gay" no longer makes them feel like enough of a special snowflake victim, so they feel compelled to invent utter horse crap terms such as "gender fluid" and "pansexual". It's like a never-ending race among them to see who can come up with the most obscure, specialized gender term to refer to themselves as.

A friend’s mom works at Hunterdon Central in NJ and there are female students that go to the nurses office for a tampon but are to be called by their freaky transgender name.....”so here is a tampon....Butch”.
How do you think ‘they’ came up with this list? Was a committee formed? Which made-up genders were so ridiculous they got rejected?
From personal experience young women who want to become men have autistic traits.
Even the Alphabets (LGQABC) say that.

They best be careful...beating the crap out of freaks may become ‘trendy’, as well.
the problem is the adults not the kids... rather then being helpful to a child confused about there sexual identity you have parents and other adults in that child’s life advocating for gender dysplasia.... I have a sister that suffers from gender dysplasia it is real and can be caused by serval factors. I have a friend who has a child who might or might not have this problem and has taken in a teenager who claimed to have it... she probably has been abused and is reacting to it.....I told my friend not to put any pressure on the girls about identifying either way. at this time a year has passed and it is looking as if the girl has decided that yes she is a girl not a boy but the situation is still fluid and only time will tell. my friends daughter is still up in the air on what’s going on at this point she is claiming to be asexual. the biggest problem that both theses girls have is that my friend who is a liberal had been advocating before I pointed out that she was doing it. for both girls seemed to improve to her when I suggested not having an opinion one way or an other. because this is mental illness I really think there is a stress component to all of this....
because I have been yelled at in the forum when talking about this issue both of the girls were born girl and are confused and wanted to be identified as boys
just thought I would give my two cents in because I am sure that I am probably one of the few here in the forum that has had practical experience with this issue.
Those who mess up adolescent minds with all the propaganda and politicized anti human drug treatments need to be charged with child abuse and driven from society.
My experience with teenagers supports this. Many of them are living very disordered lives, due to the “choices” of their parents. They are often in miserable environments at school. They all want positive attention, and they can get it by saying they’re “transgendered.”
Not that long ago, it was eating disorders. Young people thought, “I’m not happy. Maybe if I’m thin enough, I’ll be happy.” Now they’re thinking, “I’m not happy: maybe it’s because I’m the ‘wrong gender’.”
When adults grow weary with nurturing the “transgendered,” the teenagers will try being “transspecies.”

Clique Magic. Just like when I was in high school, fads rule because every last one of them have this need to be “accepted” by the latest special feature section of the yearbook. How else are they gonna get their picture in there more than once?
Gotta have the latest weird bell bottoms, tie-dye shirts, dingbat hats, Beatle Boots with taps. Smoking the right brand of cigarette, and the list goes on and on.
Me? Never was allowed to go to school in jeans and anything other than a button down shirt. Cars, cars, cars. Weekends tearing them apart at my great Uncle’s saddlery business in SW Ohio (Okeana) where he also had all sorts of vehicles in all sorts of states of repair or disassembly. Watching the news daily of hoping and praying my dad was not just a number on the casualty lists from Viet Nam. Looking forward to the Saturday edition of the Paul Harvey show on the AM radio while we had our lunch of fresh cut Bologna sandwiches, Lay’s potato(e) chips and Mountain Dew. Life was grand.
These are the things and many more like it that kept me from being sucked into the Clique magic crowds. Today’s kids being raised by bigger kids has lost all perspective and challenge on a daily basis and the phenomena of desperately being “Liked” by people they have no idea who they are. Trophies for all, identity crisis abound all because the idea they can fail has never been introduced as a concept to learn from rather than being scorned “forever” by faceless names who really couldn’t give a crap if you live or die.

I think a lot of the kids who would of had eating disorders 20 years ago are the ones now claiming to be transgendered.
No matter what they do, they will never fool Mother Nature because that chromosome thingy just cannot be altered. By why confuse them with simple facts?
I remember when “what’s you sign” was an important question to ask.
Now it’s “what’s your pronoun”? /facepalm
