Russia warns of 'negative consequences' if U.S. targets Syria

Russia's deputy U.N. envoy, Vladimir Safronkov, warned on Thursday of "negative consequences" if the United States carries out military strikes on Syria over a deadly toxic gas attack.

"We have to think about negative consequences, negative consequences, and all the responsibility if military action occurred will be on shoulders of those who initiated such doubtful and tragic enterprise," Safronkov told reporters when asked about possible U.S. strikes.

This was wrong IMO.

I’ll admit Trump has access to more information than I do, and Isreal’s leaders are trashing Assad over the gas attacks, but I don’t see what help it’s going to be for us to mix it up with Syria knowing Russia’s stance.

This has McCain, Graham, Rubio, and yes..., Hillary Clinton written all over it.

The MSM will be all atwitter about this, the group that never likes military action at all, but has been clamoring for this “war for months”.

Agreed.

I had Tucker on and when the announcement came I had to turn off the TV———and just sit.

Dreadful.

John Glenn is probably in room by himself having sex.

Oh never-mind, he’d probably screw that up too.

Doesn’t seem to be blatantly over the top propaganda. I will say that Russia (the USSR) has always had their own spin on things, but generally it was just flaming lunacy.

This sounds fairly reasoned.

One part of the report did seem to be conflicting. Assad’s planes were said to have hit the rebel’s gas stores.

Trump states that gas has been used a number of times over the last few months.

Trump may have more information than we’re being fed.

If so, this may be more reasoned.

I still don’t want us in Syria. It sets up a direct confrontation with Russia.

Putin will never abandon Assad and Assad is going to win this fight.

So going to war in Syria means we will be fighting a war against the RUSSIANS in Syria. Gee, what could go wrong.

Somebody said Trump would start WWIII. If he listens to his statist advisors, he may just do that.

I think Russia will avoid a direct conflict with the US.

I’m not as concerned with a direct conflict with Russia (I don’t think it will happen) as I am with a president launching a war. Congress declares war, not the president. There was no immanent danger to the US. Trump is out of his mind.

There’s no end to bad guys in the world. What happens after Asad? Who fills the void?
