Rep. Trey Gowdy stood by his colleague, Chairman Devin Nunes, even after Democrats like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer have demanded his resignation due to uncertainty over whether he can continue to serve as an impartial arbiter.
Speaking to Fox Newss Martha McCallum, Gowdy said Nunes hasnt done anything wrong in his efforts to investigate allegations that the previous administration spied on the Trump campaign.
I just love it when Senator Schumer gives Republicans advice on what we ought to do, Gowdy said. Devin is doing exactly what the chairman ought to do.
When you have a source that has information, you handle that information safely, securely, which is exactly what he did. I wish Senator Schumer and some of the other Democrats would be more interested in authenticity and the reliability of the underlying data and not the means by which it was acquired.
He also said it shouldnt matter where the information came from, as long as its true.
Whether it was the White House or Waffle House, what difference does it make if the information is reliable and authentic? It just so happens that Devin had to do it this way. So, were not going to take advice from Chuck Schumer on who our chairpeople ought to be.
typical democrat tactic: attack the person when the issue is against you.
The issue is whether Trump was surveilled and the information that Nunes has that proves that fact.
I love the Waffle House.
When Trump first tweeted that he was being spied upon by Obama, all the Dems said if Trump has some info to prove that then he should provide it. The Senate Intelligence committe also asked Trump for any proof so now that Nunnes says there is proof, everyone is going crazy saying its from the White House.
How did the Senate get involved in this?
I love this guy!!!
Chuck Scummer will now call for Trey Gowdy to resign. "It's impossible for Gowdy to be impartial when he's in the tank of Nunes who supported Jeff Sessions who wanted Flynn to stay in office after he supported Donald Trump who is a Russian spy!!!11!q1!!"
I love his restaurant references. I remember a hearing where he scolded a witness for pretending to be confused over something simple. He said something like: “How can that be confusing? That’s simpler than my usual order at the Bojangles drive-thru.” LOL.
LOL stealing that for my next argument
Great line from Gowdy!
Riffing off that, what if the standard GOP response to any question that has the word “Russia” is, “Fake news. Besides, what difference at this point does it make?”
If there is only one truly trustworthy member of Congress, a distinct possibility, it would have to Trey Gowdy. My favorite Congressman by a mile.
Oops, I left out Ted Cruz. Now that will be a less popular choice. But amongst the sad list of GOP Senators who is better?
How long before Schumer calls for all non-Leftists to resign....
How did the Senate get involved in this?
Good one:)
“Flip it, dip it, nip it and clip it...”
*smiles* Gowdy has a way with words.
Nunes makes them fear.
They know that the NSA sweeps up nearly everything...if not everything. Then you’ve got the Obama Bimbo yesterday verifying to Mika that Nunes was speaking truthfully.
Someone could do the same to them, and someone just might do so.
And we all know that The Clintons were Putin’s own little playthings.
It's a great sound bite, but in my opinion that's about all Trey Gowdy has produced in Congress. Sound bites that lead one to believe he's about to drop the hammer on someone with NO subsequent hammer drop. IMHO he's been a huge disappointment. Maybe if he keeps supporting Nunes and helps him get the truth out about the 'wiretaps' I'll be forced to change my opinion of him. Hope so.
That actually took me a couple of minutes. It is a good one.
