It's a great sound bite, but in my opinion that's about all Trey Gowdy has produced in Congress. Sound bites that lead one to believe he's about to drop the hammer on someone with NO subsequent hammer drop. IMHO he's been a huge disappointment. Maybe if he keeps supporting Nunes and helps him get the truth out about the 'wiretaps' I'll be forced to change my opinion of him. Hope so.
Perhaps you are overestimating a Congressional committee chairman's power and confusing the constitutional roles of the legislative and executive branches. It is Gowdy's duty to investigate and perhaps refer whatever he finds to the Department of Justice, but it is the Attorney General's prerogative to impanel a grand jury and bring charges. That ball will be in Jeff Sessions' court now that Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch are history.
