Over a mere two decades, the Pentagon lost track of a mind-numbing $10 trillion — that’s trillion, with a fat, taxpayer-funded “T” — and no one, not even the Department of Defense, knows where it went or on what it was spent.
Even though audits of all federal agencies became mandatory in 1996, the Pentagon has apparently made itself an exception, and — fully 20 years later — stands obstinately orotund in never having complied.
Because, as defense officials insist — summoning their best impudent adolescent — an audit would take too long and, unironically, cost too much.

He is not saying it went missing, just that a bean counter didnt get to verify that it was blown up, burnt, ate, given to allies, sunk or still in use .

Back when I was in the army, between the Korean and Vietnamese wars, there was a little hanky panky going on, but nothing like this. For instance, I was the company security guard for a year, and most of my work consisted in burning 55 gallon oil drums full of confidential, secret, and top secret stuff that got passed down the line to us, because nobody could be bothered to deal with it.
And there was an extra Nike missile that no one could account for. The paperwork was missing. So the order was given to take it out into the desert and bury it, solving the discrepancy.
Or when the Secretary of Defense ordered that all companies should give up trucks that they weren’t putting to sufficient use, we were ordered to drive them around and around the desert until they showed a sufficient number of miles to keep them.
But ten trillion dollars? That’s obviously outright theft at the highest levels. Exchange of pork among the generals, the politicians, and their buddies.

One of the things that got him moving on this was a single article he had read in an international news publication about the out-of-control real estate market in Dubai -- which was fueled largely by political and tribal leaders all over the Middle East buying expensive residential and commercial properties with piles of U.S. cash.
It sank in the swamp.
But the government knows all about the baked chicken recipe that I e-mailed to my sister.

Something to chuckle about because 10 trillion is a really huge number.
If we found that 10 Trillion we could burn our money and come out ahead.

Check with the CIA or NSA; they’re pretty good at moving things around without a trace. Darpa? Skunk works? Any other deep covert programs perhaps.
