The answer is yes, it restores so freedom back to the marketplace.

The bill restores some freedom back to the marketplace? How? Be specific. What in the bill would accomplish that?

They got rid of the essential benefits and decided to give it back to the states.

I also was saying that Newt would make a good Speaker. He doesn’t have to be elected. f he just does it for 2 years to help get things moving, that would be great.

They only got rid of EHB for state Medicaid recipients...anyone buying Ryancare/Obamacare 2.0 still had to buy EHB (and pay a higher price because of it).
Also, mandated insurance coverage with a 30% premium penalty was also still in the bogus bill (section 133).

“(2) BENCHMARK-EQUIVALENT COVERAGE.—For purposes of subsection (a)(1), subject to paragraphs (5) and (6) coverage that meets the following requirement shall be considered to be benchmark-equivalent coverage:
(A) INCLUSION OF BASIC SERVICES.—The coverage in- cludes benefits for items and services within each of the following categories of basic services:
(i) Inpatient and outpatient hospital services. (ii) Physicians’ surgical and medical services. (iii) Laboratory and x-ray services.
(iv) Coverage of prescription drugs.
(v) Mental health services.
(vi) Well-baby and well-child care, including age-ap- propriate immunizations.
(vii) Other appropriate preventive services, as des- ignated by the Secretary.”

“(2) AMOUNT OF PENALTY.—The amount determined under this paragraph for an applicable policyholder enrolling in health insurance coverage described in paragraph (1) for a plan year, with respect to each month during the enforcement period applicable to enrollments for such plan year, is the amount that is equal to 30 percent of the monthly premium rate otherwise applicable to such applicable policyholder for such coverage during such month.

>Please do so now, and then apologize to the Freedom Caucus and THANK THEM for saving you and the Republic from having RynoCare hung around our necks.

Thank you for opening the door to single payer with your stupid crap. Trump gave you a great supream court pick, enforcement of border laws, roll back of job killing regulations, etc and you repay him by refusing his play for time on Obamacare with Ryancare. Trump now knows that trying to make a deal with Conservitives is pointless.

Now Trump is going to make a deal with the dems to stop the bleeding from Obamacare and it’s going to suck a lot worse than Ryancare. The whole FC and it’s supporters are nothing more than jibbering idoits.

>Trump will be down to 40% in a week. He’s crapping on the very people who were enthusiastic and joining at the hip with those who wanted to destroy his candidacy. Dumb. Just dumb.

The biggest thing taking a hit is the conservitive brand.

Oh please. Are you really trying to suggest that not supporting a bill that was just as bad as Obamacare is "...refusing his play for time on Obamacare with Ryancare." ???

If that's the case, I would bet you have some horse in the RynoCare race that you need to pay off for you.

The bill sucked (it couldn’t even get to 200 aye votes with Mr Trump’s backing)...he should have rejected it out of hand and made Rino Ryan go back and write a REPEAL bill, not a soft mod. bill.

I’d have more respect if it had been passed to get to senate then they could’ve voted no on final product after reconciliation if it wasn’t better. Obamacare is hurting people. If it’s not replaced it will be funded.
I hope we get another shot at it and a bill that can get support will be crafted. Republicans look bad with this. All sides.
_________________________________________

I also think that everyone on GOP side did not look good at all...

I don’t like Obama, Pelosi, and Reid...But, I have to admire their political skills in passing Obamacare...

Why couldn’t Trump, Ryan, and McConnell work together like they did?

Obama was lucky...He did have the support of 60 senators to break filibuster by GOP...There are not 60 votes for just repealing Obamacare at this time...

Obamacare will continue to be funded...

GOP House members were afraid of losing in 2018 if they voted for the Ryan bill...

It is possible for them to still lose...Some GOP voters might stay home because they are unhappy that Republicans just like to talk tough...

I think that some GOP House members like to talk tough...But, they are afraid of taking any action...

Waiting until Obamacare collapses...I don’t know...Republicans ran on the promise to repeal Obamacare as soon as possible..Not when it is about to collapse in a few years...

Also, the Planned Parenthood defunding in the bill was a 1 year bait & switch...did Mr. Ryan explain that to Mr. Trump? Mr. Trump unaware? Chief of staff didn’t tell him?

Bubba, I understand your point about local costs influencing prices, but I don’t get the impression you are familiar with what the actual, very solid arguments for selling across state lines are. Many states force insurance companies to provide all sorts of expensive types of coverage as a requirement of doing business in their state. If everyone can buy across state lines they won’t be forced to purchase big expensive plans with a ton of add-ons and extra regulations required by their state that they either don’t want or in some cases couldn’t even use (like men and post-menopausal women being forced to pay for coverage of pre-natal care and birth control pills for themselves, for example).

Americans in every state would then have the opportunity to buy cheap minimal coverage if that’s all they want or think they will need, since state laws prohibiting that sort of coverage will now be moot. That should cause a lot of people who don’t want to buy insurance as it is now to opt in. More participants should mean lower costs for the insurance companies and hopefully consumers, while the people will have more options of what cost-level they want to purchase, including inexpensive plans as an option for many more people—inexpensive not because of their local medical costs but because their plans will simply cover less by their own choice.

Doing this will also create more competition by giving people more choices between insurance companies. Free market competition that breaks through state-wide (or any sort of) monopolies is good for consumers and usually lowers prices noticeably. Right now, thousands of counties and even a fair number of states have only one or two health insurance providers, so the companies don’t really have to work and compete much—if at all—for customers. Competition will give these companies incentives to lower their prices and provide more options. Being freed of dealing with 50 sets of often radically different regulations should also encourage more new insurance companies to form, since it will be much cheaper, easier, and faster for them to start doing business nationwide.

These major changes will lower premiums and give the public more choices in crafting the specifics of their own health coverage. Trump himself spent a couple pages really going into this in his 2000 book, The America We Deserve. And before someone starts talking about states rights, interstate commerce is one of the few powers explicitly given to the federal government in the Constitution. This is definitely one of the changes to our health care system I most want to see happen.

Reading through these posts (and some on other threads) makes it very clear how little loyalty Trump can expect from many of his “ardent supporters.” Many all-or-nothing, never-compromise, doctrinaire types will turn on him if he doesn’t do exactly what they demand 100% of the time, no matter how much he has done for them or how much better he was than the alternative—and then they will pat themselves on the back for their integrity if they help cause Trump’s defeat and get a radical leftist in power instead.

Trump is a pragmatist who actually wants to get things passed and enacted, rather than putting on shows of purity that have no chance of going anywhere, and that alone—his unwillingness to play worthless political games that everyone expects to see—has already caused people to turn from him and his agenda for the country. This will only mean retaining more of the Obama agenda instead.

Dems Are Smiling That The Freedom Caucus Has Saved Planned Parenthood & Ocare!>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

This is a mistake by Trump.

The content of legislation matters.

The Freedom Caucus saved the Trump presidency form a horribly draconian piece of legislation designed to favor only the Insurance and Big Pharm lobbies. Trump needs to learn that he might be able to do that with just about anything else on hhis agenda, but not with Healthcare.

The only thing we could reasonably expect from Trump is a strong commitment to MAGA. The (non)repeal of Obamacare would have helped in that regard and I initially supported that strategy. After listening to the “purist” arguments, I believe that they are correct. I don’t think Trump can MAGA and also be the savior of health care. The simple fact is that health care is a drain, can’t be exported, won’t MAGA. Ryan’s strategy to water down Obamacare is fine for the short run but would be a long term drain. Full repeal will eliminate the drain and allow alternatives to flourish. The press will complain about the indignity of charity health care but they are going to bash us anyway. MAGA will create prosperity so that free care will be very good if not great.

President Trump is correct and the face of the libertarian caucus misnamed the freedom caucus is Mark Sanford. Only RINOs voting with Nancy Pelosi could pull off this betrayal of the most patriotic conservative Presidential team in my lifetime.

A repeal bill won’t get 60 votes in the Senate. Trump’s a pragimist, if conservtives won’t cut a deal to stop the murder of the middle class that is Obamacare then he will cut a deal with the dems. With Trump the people come first and your unwillingness to compromise will result in a much less conservitive solution than you’d otherwise get.

You want a bill passed, Mr. President, don’t try to get it passed like Nancy Pelosi did. We had that experience - no thanks.

Are you there to drain the swamp, or what? Why are you taking the side of the swamp creatures, and against the few who still uphold the principles that made America great in the first place, the principles that will be absolutely necessary to uphold if that is to happen again?
