AHCA was pulled from the floor yet again this afternoon, and it now is probable that Obamacare will be the law of the land for years to come. This is an utter disaster for U.S. health care, not to mention individual liberty, and the responsibility rests squarely on shoulders of a small cadre of political opportunists with the effrontery to call themselves the House Freedom Caucus.
These people held out for the impossible full repeal of Obamacare in one fell swoop and have thus destroyed the only realistic opportunity their party will have in the near future to eradicate the laws individual and employer mandates, enact entitlement reform, expand HSAs, defund Planned Parenthood, halt the metastasis of Medicaid, and cut its myriad taxes.
Moreover, they have made a mockery of their groups name by perpetuating the increasingly oppressive and powerful administrative state, leaving their constituents to the tender mercies of Beltway bureaucrats whose contempt for the taxpayers who support them is exceeded only by the breathtaking incompetence with which they mismanage everything they touch.

Ping.
Obama care has now been called Conservacare
The author’s basic premise here is B.S. The Freedom Caucus opposed RyanCare simply because it would have been politically disastrous for them to support it. It would have damaged President Trump if it had passed, too.
>> These people held out for the impossible full repeal of Obamacare in one fell swoop
We can barely get a single decent piece of legislation let alone a complex repeal process that requires 3 phases.
Ryan and team RINO set themselves up for failure.
Obamacare is on life support for now - just revisit the damn health care bill later - I’m tired of this “we didn’t pass the pos bill so now were stuck” argument. It is a bunch of BS. I’d rather Congress do nothing then saddle us with more socialism and promises in phase 2 and 3.
Blame Shift if it helps you sleep at night...
BS. We didn't not want to pass this bill to see what was in it, Nancy.
This is the ONLY possible step. We know what happens when the tax increases are immediate, and spending cuts promised later.
REPEAL NOW. Complete.
“it would have been politically disastrous for them to support it”
If they need to keep Obama’s policies in place to get reelected they are useless.
Exactly. Even if the GOP leadership’s intentions were good, it would have been disastrous for the party in 2018 if they had passed this bill and voters ended up facing outrageous insurance premium increases in their 2017-18 renewals anyway.
It can’t be coincidence that everyone upset this bill failed is using the language of abusers to lash out.
Anyone bashing the Freedom Caucus should go on the list of swamp creatures that need to be drained out.
People saw this bill as a bait-and-switch. No real repeal, just more costs and regulations, no chance of parts 2 and 3 passing.
Right on. Amazed at how many here are just as gleeful as the Democrats, liberals and Hollywood.
It sickens me, but you can all be happy and celebrate with Hillary.
It’s easy to just say ‘repeal and replace’, but the reality is it will take time to disentangle ourselves from Obamacare. This was a step forward, but you Freedom Caucus schmucks have seen to it that we are stuck with O-care.
Hillary, Obama, Schumer thanks you.
And, thanks to ryan we have no roll call vote letting us know who the rat lights are.
So, thanks to the r’s keeping obamacare we don’t do the expansion we wanted to do, but had not announced.
And this is "impossible" why?
Before the election, State Lines, State lines! after the election, Phase 3, Phase 3!
Is that you, Paul Ryan?
Also, the author is a “health care consultant”, AKA part of the swamp himself.
