AHCA was pulled from the floor yet again this afternoon, and it now is probable that Obamacare will be the law of the land for years to come. This is an utter disaster for U.S. health care, not to mention individual liberty, and the responsibility rests squarely on shoulders of a small cadre of political opportunists with the effrontery to call themselves the House Freedom Caucus.
These people held out for the impossible full repeal of Obamacare in one fell swoop and have thus destroyed the only realistic opportunity their party will have in the near future to eradicate the laws individual and employer mandates, enact entitlement reform, expand HSAs, defund Planned Parenthood, halt the metastasis of Medicaid, and cut its myriad taxes.
Moreover, they have made a mockery of their groups name by perpetuating the increasingly oppressive and powerful administrative state, leaving their constituents to the tender mercies of Beltway bureaucrats whose contempt for the taxpayers who support them is exceeded only by the breathtaking incompetence with which they mismanage everything they touch.

Trump said in an interview and in the Oval Office that the Democrats will come to him when Obamacare fails and he can do a bipartisan bill - noting that he won’t need the Freedom Caucus. In asking for everything, the Freedom Caucus may get squat.
Anyone bashing the Freedom Caucus should go on the list of swamp creatures that need to be drained out.

Hear! Hear!
Exactly.
The idiot RINO Ryan Bill still contained the FORCED to BUY Health Insurance or face a Still IRS penalty — this will NEVER be tolerated again ... Stupid Ryan and others believe we have no memory
Lol...have you read what the founder of this site said....hint...he was glad it was rejected
Trump has lessons to learn ... this bill was a poison pill ... and he should have NEVER backed it... The 51 vote approach can be used when ever it is needed ...
Allowing RINO Ryan to pen this bill was just below moron ...
“No, putting illegals healthcare above veterans is astounding which is precisely what the management amendment in this bill did.”
Are you certain of that?
If true, why did the President support it? As I remember it, President Trump supported the Ryan bill.
This seems at odds with the pledge to deport the illegals.
Lets place the blame where it belongs - on Ryans arrogance and incompetence.
((
Don’t leave out Ryan’s treachery.
Supporters promised that Dir. Price has 1,400 "shalls" available within the language to fix everything....all to be undone when Dems are back in charge ?
KILL IT. DEAD . DAMN IT !
Phases 2 and 3 won't happen. Dems control the DC circuit court, which means every proposal gets tied up in court forever. Disaster was avoided for DjT and republican majority, imho, provided they act.
They're a bunch of cowardly bastards. Reconciliation can be pushed to new levels by Mike Pence as chair of the Senate. Stop playing with Queensberry rules.
I believe Meadows, Freedom Caucus, Cruz, Paul, Lee, et al truly have the party and Trump's well being at heart.
And this is "impossible" why?
It was impossible because:
Under reconciliation, in a couple of years we would have gotten rid of the Obamacare mess. Trump would have made a deal with the domocrats with phase 3 (infrastructure, their pet projects etc, surely...but much better than what we will get now within the next year or two): SINGLEPAYER.
yes are they so f’n stupid they can’t work on more than one bill at a time? I don’t expect to get a full repeal but this bill was complete garbage. RYan is working against Trump no doubt
That EO gives federal agencies wide discretion to begin changing pieces of the ACA that they find burdensome....it doesn’t, nor can the President/agencies, just arbitrarily defund anything...that’s what Congress does, via legislation.
They can find areas where they’d like stop funding, but Congress ultimately holds the purse strings.
..... federal agencies cannot change provisions of the law while the ACA is still on the books. The executive branch can only operate within the limits of Congresss legislation and the authority delegated to the agency by Congress. The executive order addresses this point and allows for agencies to act within the maximum extent of the law.....
So, no...Trump hasn’t ‘defunded’ most of 0Care. By law, he cannot.
canard
RYan would rather be in the minority and the longer he is Speaker..the better chance that is going to happen. he would rather kill Trumps agenda and lose congress . he is a democrat
The bill forced vets into the va system via that managers amendment. I posted a thread on it.
I saw conservatives on Twitter asking why the bill didn’t have the state lines thing in it. People didn’t understand it. The Republicans did a TERRIBLE job trying to sell it - perhaps because they tried to shove it through. Most people didn’t understand the phases or the bill, and the approval was 17%. I’m torn as to whether if this thing passed they would have gotten all three phases. If they didn’t get all three phases, then we’d have a problem. Also, if it passed and the CBO numbers were right, we’d be in for a bloodbath in the upcoming election. That said, on the other hand, I’m torn because perhaps this was the best shot we would ever have. Not passing it could also help the Democrats. It’s a situation where hindsight will be 20/20, but that won’t occur for a year or two.
One of the few statements on this thread that I agree with. Since when did this forum become a shill for K-street maneuvers to save what for their paymasters is a really good deal.
Sure seems to be alot of anti conservative policy people on FR these days. Ryancare was a LIBERAL policy and I thank God it got pulled.
What a headline! I nominate that as the Idiot Headline of the year. Did some bitter RINO write this?
You are 100% correct.
The deal was always "repeal and replace" Obamacare, not "fix" Obamacare.
Once Republicans put their signature on it, they're going to own it and the Democrats who passed it in the first place will have clean hands.
We can't forget this.
Kudos to the Freedom Caucus yesterday for doing the right thing and standing strong.
