Supreme Court: After Judge Neil Gorsuch spent 20 hours demonstrating that he is abundantly qualified to be a Supreme Court Justice, Democrats announced plans to filibuster his nomination. Good luck with that.
By all accounts, Gorsuch put in a stellar performance in his confirmation hearing. Even the New York Times conceded that "if Democrats harbored any hope of raising doubts about Judge Gorsuch among Republicans, they came nowhere close."
But as soon as the hearing ended, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer announced that he was going to filibuster the nomination anyway.
Gorsuch, Schumer said, "was groomed by the Federalist Society and has shown not one inch of difference between his views and theirs."
We understand that Schumer is just trying to appease his party's far-left, Trump-loathing base. But think about this strategy for a minute.

Agree; Cornyn and Cruz will have to hold McConnell up and move his lips for him though as he will go plumb wobbly at the thought. Cornyn is as gutless and useless as the turtle-faced loser McConnell.

Maybe not constructive but when the dems last had a majority they ramrodded a ton of legislation, they did more in a few months then these feckless cowardly repubtards will do in years.
Watching the cowardly repubtards can only make you cry. We have absolute sissies going up against committed, they will shoot you in the eye and then kick you in the balls, commies.

Dont use the nuclear option. That will just allow the dems to use it against them in the future. The Dems will do it anyway, regardless. Do you seriously think that, if the Dems ever regain power, they will allow themselves to be bound by rules and tradition? They ALREADY nuked the filibuster for all lesser confirmations when they had the power.
We might as well push the button now.

I agree. Make them do a real filibuster. Dont use the nuclear option. That will just allow the dems to use it against them in the future. The GOP needs to learn to play yard all.
The scum democrats will do it anyway if and when they, God forbid, regain the Congressional majority. If the Republicans don't have the stones to play hardball then they definitely didn't get the message from the last election and should get OUT! and let those who will roll back the soul-destroying leviathian in D.C.

Lindsey Graham signaled he is not supportive of the nuclear option. McCain probably is of like mind. If they vote against a rule change they need one more to avoid a tie. Collins, maybe? Or anyone of the usual suspects.
I don’t hold out much hope if a change in the rules needs a vote.
To: Vaquero
I just hope he doesn’t get suckered by a closet liberal. And that any conservative he appoints STAYS conservative.

I’m okay with a real filibuster. Then the Senate can change their rules to eliminate the filibuster, and it will be easier to get President Trump’s next nominee confirmed.

LOL! Well of course not. They claim he’s not “main stream”. Of course main stream to them is NOT my main stream. I’d hate to have to waste a nuke on them. Could get real ugly when the next spot opens in the not to distant future.

The worst thing that was ever done in my opinion was go to popular elections for US Senators. 1913 was a very bad year. The 16th and 17th Amendments all but put an end to limited government. Woodrow Wilson in my top three worst presidents list.
