In the wake of an alleged brutal rape at Rockville High School in Maryland by two illegal aliens last week, Montgomery County Superintendent Dr. Jack Smith is accusing parents of racism and xenophobia. He also claims threats are being made against students and schools.
"While I know this tragic incident has become part of a national political debate, I want to remind community members that the lives of real students have been forever affected," Smith sent in an email Thursday morning. "While many have chosen to engage civilly in the conversation, far too many have crossed the line with racist, xenophobic calls and emails. MCPS is working with law enforcement to identify those who are making threats toward our students and schools. This behavior will not be tolerated in our community."
Nowhere in the email was it mentioned the suspects are in the country illegally, with at least one facing deportation.
Parents have been protesting outside of Smith's office in recent days and did not mince words about the situation during a public meeting Tuesday night. One parent said he took his daughter out of school last year because of an unsafe environment.
Smith avoided questions about the alleged sexual assault for days and had to be confronted by a reporter in the parking lot outside of his office before finally answering questions. He is in charge of 204 schools in the district.
Meanwhile, Republican Governor Larry Hogan is demanding answers.
"Why is an 18-year-old man in a class with 13 or 14-year-old girls? Why was his status not known to those folks? Why was he allowed to enter the country after he was picked up for illegally crossing the borderboth of them? So there are a lot of questions, Hogan told Fox 5. "My biggest concern is the Montgomery County School System and their lack of cooperation and the lack of information they've been providing. Not only have they refused to provide any information to us, but they've refused to provide information to the state Board of Education, which specifically requested more information."
Remind me - what country is this?
This is really pissing me off.
I think people have to go up and examine Rockville, and the past decade. I lived in Arlington, VA for 3.5 years and came to know Rockville to some minor degree. Across the whole spectrum....from churches to social groups...it’s drilled in on a daily basis and I think seventy-percent of the public was buying the agenda.
Maybe this episode will unlock political groups to now question and fire individuals who are part of the problem, but I have my doubts. Montgomery County (essentially considered a district of DC) isn’t the place that attracts anyone in search of a good school or safe residence. The entire county is working toward being a low-income district over the next decade.
I stated this on another thread. I have no idea why men of this age just arrived from Central America are admitted to US public high schools. They’re violent men probably deeply involved in criminal activity.
Remind me - what country is this?
Yeah, I was thinking that too. What “community” is this goosestepping apparatchik referring to? El Salvador? Guatemala? Certainly not the USA.
Montgomery County was an affluent area back when I lived in DC a couple decades ago. Now it is busy trying to be the Maryland cess pool version of Arlington, VA. it seems.
...the parents of the victim should sue the snot out of Smith for neglecting and total disregard of protecting the students for allowing an adult in with young girls...
The face of a moron. I do not understand these people. It can only be about the money they get from the feds for harboring these criminals.
“While I know this tragic incident ..”
This wasn’t a tragic “incident” it was a violent brutal crime, and it was due to your politically correct BS. Hey, not your daughter though.
Can’t stand these self righteous left wing jackasses. They’re destructive. Look how they destroy every city they run. They destroy everything.
Blood money.
Look at this fat weak spineless loser. A worthless political hack in his own right. Too bad the country is loaded with these kind of bureaucrat. Nameless, faceless, brainless, money grubbers and power hungry. Anything to keep your job and the money flowing.
People like the Superintendant need to be dragged oit into the street and shot. Only then will those types get the message.
I agree to a certain extent. My reluctance rests with the fact that there seems to be millions of these nutjobs in our country now. If we were to do what you suggest, who bears the cleanup costs? It might be more efficient to just drop them over the ocean.
But, if you insist on shooting them in the streets, at least let’s follow up with meat hooks, replicating Italy, 1945!
Cut funding now
“This behavior will not be tolerated in our community.”
This idiot is overrunning his headlights. He is the agent of the school board, hired by the school board, and the school board is the agent hired by the community (taxpayers).
He does not have the authority to decree which behaviors will or will not be tolerated in the community. His authority extends to the operation of the school district.
And he is an idiot. He will soon be fired.
That would be illegal alien criminals then? No, thought not.
Remind me - what country is this?
If we wake up one morning to find the good people of Rockville have elevated the rapists' accomplice to an appropriate position dangling from a utility pole, it's America again.
call it what you want Dr. Smith, but I have lived in Montgomery County my entire life and over the last fifteen years none of my three daughters have ever attended public school in this county, and most certainly they never will.
It is only about the money they get for each head counted in each classroom. The biggest question to be sought by any enterprising investigative journalist would be to find out just how many illegals are in this and other schools and just how much per head they are granted and by whom.
Just like government subsidized health insurance that Ryan and his Tuesday Coalition refuse to cut out of their crappy plan for anyone unable to validate their citizenship, the insurance lobby is getting the money and I can guarantee you the kickbacks are there, somewhere. The kickbacks for this and other government schools is the per-head subsidies they get for shielding the illegals.
Not to go off topic, but I hope dearly the vote today on Ryancare fails and subsequently allows Trump to tap Rand Paul and, strike me down for saying it, Mark Sanford to bring their plan while also starting the no-confidence to vacate the chair against at least Ryan putting McConnell on notice.
at least the proceeds of last year’s 7% hike in county property taxes was put to good use. /s
I doubt he will be fired anytime soon or at all. The worst is yet to come as the attorney for the 18 year old was on with Tucker last night and this jack-ass is going to go after the victim to sully her name saying she willingly participated. Never mind the reports of several students who heard her screaming for help. The scum lawyer is just trying to make a name for himself so he can rake it in later.
