False news story by an ignorant reporter. A lot of agricultural operations are using H2-A visa labor. Americans with the existing welfare system aren't going to come out to the farm and work. H2-A visa holders are single men, they don't bring their families, are provided food and shelter, and work for a set period of time and then have to return home.

....and what are the labor arrangements at the Pelosi Winery in the Napa Valley?

Are all of the workers at the Napa Winery legally documented?

I disagree. They aren’t paying enough to get American applicants.

The only good thing I can say about it is they are hiring legally and only 29 people.

Get rid of welfare and that will change.

H2-A labor pencils out to $20 per hour. I’m paying tractor drivers $26 per hour, plus safety bonus, plus acre bonus, plus end of year bonus, plus 100% medical insurance for employee with 50% for dependents, plus paid sick leave. I think you folks need to pay more for your vegetables.

What you mean is that they won't come out to the farm and work for $10.72 an hour. Answer is to pay more.

That’s a huge factor. They pay a livable wage and they’ll get employees. What they’re paying illegals are chump change, like wages from the 1990s. This has been the problem all along with thousands of unscrupulous greedy employers as the government stood by winking and nodding as they played right into their new world order globalist plans.

Agreed. Apparently the market can take a leap if it means raising wages to attract American workers.

My dad was not too proud to work in the fields. Was grateful to get the work. In fact, our entire family including grandma, aunt, uncle, cousins, mom, dad and us kids often turned out to pick cotton, cut grapes etc. Sheila’s dad worked full time tending orchards his entire life.

Maybe the winery needs to offer a little more in wages.

Agreed. Let’s go back to the days when only the widowed or disabled or other such persons in clearly understandable need were permitted to get public assistance. In my country, it has only been since the mid 1960s that able bodied people were permitted to get welfare.

No it does not. Pencil in taxes and that 20 per hour is what?

Amen. We should be proud to purchase American grown quality produce.

Another legacy of Trudeau the First.

There is a big difference between illegal border jumpers and legal immigrant residents seeking jobs rather than benefits.

Don’t pay FICA to H2-A. The $20 per hour includes wages plus transportation plus room and board.

This reporter should investigate the foreign workers at Nancy Pelosi’s vineyards.
