Congressional Republicans have a lot to say about their new president.
Donald Trump's proposed budget is "draconian, careless and counterproductive." The health care plan is a bailout that won't pass. And his administration's suggestion that former President Barack Obama used London's spy agency for surveillance is simply "inexplicable."
With friends like these, who needs Democrats?
Less than two months in, Republicans have emerged as one of the biggest obstacles to Trump's young administration, imperiling his early efforts to pass his agenda and make good on some of his biggest campaign promises.
Trump's embrace of a House GOP plan to overhaul the country's health system faces deep opposition from across the party, as does his push to get U.S. taxpayers to pay for a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border. Republicans largely rejected his thin, 53-page first budget, joking that there's a "fat chance for skinny budget" on Capitol Hill. And his tax reform and infrastructure plans have yet to gain any real traction in Congress.
Trump insisted on Friday that he is leading a party that is coalescing behind him.
"I think we have a very unified party. I think actually more unified than even the election," he said at a White House news conference with German leader Angela Merkel. "You see when they talk about me, I seem to be very popular, at least this week within the party."
Long a divisive political figure, Trump entered office with historically low approval ratings and a popular vote loss of nearly 3 million. Still, he claimed a sweeping mandate when he arrived in Washington, fiercely pushing back on any suggestion that he won with less than a historic margin and moving quickly on a series of controversial executive orders.

I always knew the Cheap Labor Express Republicans would be the greater obstacle.
We need to win Congress, or have a military coup, for Trump to accomplish anything.
More fake news from Lisa Lerer’s AP.
President Trump is our President but they will try everything to stop him and his work and their hate of him is their hate of us who are patriotic citizens of America. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The ballot box will fix these RINOs , or the cartridge box, they can take their pick
Democrats and crony pubbies can usually get to a majority. Unfortunately.
RINO butt hurt bump for later....
The budgets of all presidents are “dead on arrival” in Congress. Trump is no exception in this regard. Each member of the House and Senate is like their own little freedom and every last one of them thinks they are God’s gift to humanity. They all want their “pork” and pet issues funded, and the country be damned.
Winning the white house is an incredibly difficult task that only a handful of people have the ability and desire to do. Unfortunately, it’s the easy part. Governing is much more difficult.
In addition to “Draining the Swamp,” President Trump also needs to get rid of numerous RINOcrat floaters. Encouraging conservatives to run in primaries against the RINOcrats (especially the Senators) should be encouraged, especially by the Trump-controlled GOP leadership.
True, especially now-days that the DC rino-dem politicians have become so corrupt and deceitful, the rinos are allies of the democrat left. Sad.
Yep, the lobby-supported RINOs, and those that are just faux Americans, just don’t like anything but the ole status quo for the Congress. It is going to be a fight to get Washington back to working for the REAL American citizens that put them there....
“You see when they talk about me, I seem to be very popular, at least this week within the party.”
I worry when he says things like this. As a conservative, you can either be effective or popular.
You cannot be both.
Even Ronald Reagan, as skilled as he was with dealing with his adversaries, the establishment Uniparty and their media hacks, they hated him till the day he left office.
Trump has none of Reagan’s natural likeability. In fact, he’s pretty much on the opposite end of that spectrum. He’s a hard-driving self promoter with super-charged New York style affect and frankness.
As long the people like what he’s doing, all the rest will all take care of itself. And as long as the left continues to run around screaming at his every breath as if their heads were exploding, the way they are now, we know he’s doing a good job for us.
Probably wishful thinking on her part
It's what gives them their ticket back for their next term.
Trump’s struggles with the GOP are a good sign. We elected him because we don’t trust the GOP.
The draining of the swamp of Congress is up to us.
WE have to stop voting for weasels and Cantorize them in primaries.
The GOP leadership is still made up of Cheap Labor Express Republicans.
Corker, Hatch, Heller and Flake MUST be removed from office in 2018 for their votes for the Gang of Amnesty.
President Trump is daring to do what no politician would dare to do...cleaning out the piggy back programs of Bureaucratic cronyism that waste money, does nothing for the citizens of America...we pay an army of Bureaucrats who do nothing...they make up an enormous part of the over employed and over paid government employment system (for votes)....far from President Trump’s proposed budget being “draconian” in fact that description is from someone who’s ox is being gored. You can expect words like that from the liberal Left for the next 8 years.
He let them completely roll him on Obamacare, so it will probably only get worse.
