Actress Mayim Bialik responded to Palestinian activist Linda Sarsour's claim that a person cannot be a Zionist and a feminist.
"Zionism is the belief in the right of the Jewish people to have an autonomous state in Israel," Bialik, an Orthodox Jew, wrote in a post on her website GrokNation. "I am a Zionist. Feminism is the belief that a woman-driven movement can bring about race, class and gender equality and that women deserve all of the rights and privileges afforded to men. I am a feminist."
Bialik continued by saying, "As a feminist Zionist, I cant believe I am being asked to choose or even defend my religious, historical and cultural identity. The left needs to reexamine the microscope they use to look at Israel, and we all need to take a step back and remember we are stronger together: women, men, lovers of peace, and lovers of freedom and justice."

She’s tilting at windmills. These people on the far left have their own definitions of Zionism (and many other words). Zionism is the Jewish national movement. But these people are using it in place of other words. Some use Zionist to avoid using the word Jew and thus deflect their antisemitism. Some use Zionism to mean specific Israeli government policies (not shared by all Zionists or Israelis or Israeli political parties) because they want to create an impression of all Israelis or all Jews. In any case, almost any made up definition of Zionism is not mutually exclusive with feminism.
The woman who made the original remark that you cannot be feminist if you support Israel because of their policies towards the occupied territories somehow couldn’t find words to decry many more countries with very blatant anti-woman policies, such as women cannot drive, cannot vote, cannot work, and need the permission of a man to do many normal public things like shopping or going to school.
In many countries, a woman’s testimony in court is only worth 1/4 that of a man’s testimony. If she alleges rape, she must find at least 2 witnesses to the crime. If she cannot, then her allegation is considered an admission of adultery and the state will execute her. No words from the feminist about that? No words about a culture of ‘honor killings” which, much like the rape testimony, women are killed by their brothers and fathers for shaming their family with promiscuous behavior (even if no sex occurred, just the appearance of it). This woman has no words for them?
I assume her character will be killed off somehow.
Not that I ever watch the show. My room mate watches it. I can’t stand it.
Me too i find myself liking the BBT since it’s witty, not overly lewd, geeky and the cast are like cartoon characters come alive. Compared to a trash garbage sitcom like 2 Broke Girls.
No one should be a feminist
Never watched — well, whatever show she was on when she was young, but I happened to catch her on ‘what not to wear’. She is really funny and dorky and smart. And had a terrible sense of style.
IIRC, she was into attachment parenting, and ended up getting divorced. Very sad, she seems like the unusual star who is pretty reasonable. My guess is that even if she tends to the left (which I don’t actually know!) she would have a reasoned, respectful debate with our folk.
Mayim is the only cast member of "Big Bang" that actually has a genius IQ.

She's right. I admit I don't know who she is.
HOORAY Actress Mayim Bialik
Any glimmerings of good sense among young libs should be nurtured like newly sprouted seedlings.
ABSOLUTELY
Thanks. Graphic BUMP!
“Feminism is the belief that a woman-driven movement can bring about race, class and gender equality and that women deserve all of the rights and privileges afforded to men”.
Confucius say things that are woman driven end up in ditch.
Looks like she is learning the hard way that the left is no friend of the Jews.
There’s no reasoning with the death cult.
Feminism is all about communism. Once you figure that out, you know why they all do the things they do.
Feminism is all about being a victim. Being an armed woman is all about not being a victim.
Huh? Every one of the men on that show is a dolt. For that matter, every woman on that show is a dolt. And Sheldon Cooper is the king of dolts. Actually, there’s another word that more accurately describes him, but it would probably earn me a ban if I used it...!
Don’t get too impressed. She was on an over the top Trump-bash two weeks ago.
On FGM Sarsour tweeted in 2011 that she would like to take away the vagina of FGM victim Ali Hirsi.
And liberal feminists blindly follow her.
Well aware. But she’s the first Jewish celeb that has said ANYTHING. And it is about time.
