Ah yes, the Russian Bank “pings” that set the whole Russian thing in motion against Trump. Methinks someone in the CIA on behalf of the Clinton campaign used their tools recently described by Wikileaks to make it look like activity between Russia and Trump servers. Once that tidbit was operational, then all other motions could be set in place, such as increased investigations, surveillance and “wiretapping,” whether through FISA or the Five Eyes program.
Now the question is, who knew what and when? We now know the how and where. These are serious reporters doing serious reporting and they should be held in high esteem for actually doing real investigative reporting.

Exactly after first FISA was turned down (and they most times never are) they needed a just cause, so manufacture one by using the CIA hacking tools to make it look like server at Trump was pining ing the Russian bank to establish just cause. Then they could monitor Trump campaign in last days of the race.
I keep going back to Hillary thinking TX and GA were “in play” and they did not go to MI and WI and lost. Like a classic football end around mis-direction play. Did Trump camp fake them out with mis-information? A master Belichek style move if true.
This is a modern day Watergate. They used the ruse of Russian’s in the Trump campaign to spy on Trumps campaign.
Me thinks that Trump knew about this in advance, and made sure nothing was leaked to anyone. I think he did not use much online communications.
He knew something was up. Remember when he did not tell his Admin Asst that he was having a briefing and then everybody knew he was briefed? Wasn’t that before the election when he started get pre-election briefings?

Fusion GPS hired UK based Orbis Business Intelligence, run by ex-British spies Christopher Steele and Christopher Burrows. Steele was MI6 and had been posted in Moscow in the 1990s. Orbis used Steele’s ex-KGB sources to attempt to dig up information against Trump. Orbis created the famous and now discredited “dossier” against Trump. Sen. John McCain notified the FBI of the dossier in October 2016. He hand delivered the dossier alleging secret Trump-Russia contacts and extremely embarrassing allegations to the FBI in November. The files were widely circulated within the Obama administration.
In their enthusiasm, FusionGPS/Orbis and their Russian operatives placed numerous calls and sent emails to both to Trump campaign members and to current Russian intelligence operatives early in 2016. The volume of these calls and emails caught the attention of the CIA. An FBI Counter-Intelligence project was started to assess whether these communications represented a threat to the US. Because of the sheer volume of the communications and the known Russian agents involved, FBI Director James Comey sought a FISA Court warrant to investigate the nature of the calls in June 2016. The FISA Court rejected the request. Not to be thwarted, the FBI, working with the CIA and the NSA, created a list of Russian individuals that had communicated with the Trump campaign that would be monitored. The calls and emails were intercepted without warrant under current FBI Counter-Intelligence authorizations. The communications were recorded and attempts to identify the US person(s) on the lines were conducted. The now famous call between Gen Flynn and the Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak was captured in this sweep.
Following the GOP Convention, the funding for FusionGPS/Orbis from NeverTrump and the GOP Mormon Mafia ended. Fusion GPS did not want to see their efforts end and solicited the continuation of the project to Democracy Partners and others in the DNC. They were successful in securing some additional funding form DNC affiliated donors. With the assistance of James Comey, the FBI agreed to pick up some of their expenses to continue forward. The FusionGPS/Orbis efforts continued until early January 2017. James Comey and all of the members of the Obama administration national security leadership knew that the Trump/Russian interference conspiracy was based on these FusionGPS/Orbis activities in October of 2016.
No evidence of wrong-doing by any member of the Trump campaign was found.

Wow! That is quite interesting and I am not shocked at all to see McMullin in the mix. McCain too.
Any verbal communications within range of a computer, cell phone, etc., could also have been captured.
I still find it striking that he hasn’t returned to Trump Tower since his inauguration.
I find it interesting that Trump called McMullin “McMuffin” in Orlando around Christmas and now McDonalds has a hacker bash Trump on twitter.
The MSM is schizophrenic. On the one hand, they demand evidence when Trump says he was “wiretapped”, and will quote Congressman who say there is no evidence and no investigation (no surveillance) of Trump. Then they say there is evidence of Trump colluding with Russians, which requires surveillance of Trump to determine. But the press releases transcripts of phone calls Trump made in the White House, which requires surveillance of Trump, and turn right around and say Trump is lying about wiretaps. This is all a bit confusing.

Yes. The press want the benefits of destroying Trump but not the scrutiny nor the possible legal ramifications if what they are saying is true. They wanted to get Trump so bad they are backed into a corner and now we are going to pursue this.

Why Russia? On this issue, McCain and Rubio are insane in their deep-seated hatred. An anti-Russia mission makes it almost impossible for Trump to accomplish anything in the US Senate. Besides that, the Godfather of the Global Elites Klingon-type Empire is George Soros, Russia's Enemy #1.

I’ve been reading the news on this site for many years and I can’t recall Circa News being a big contributor. Now all of a sudden Hannity is trusting them as his expert sources? I just hope it doesn’t turn out to be like the reliable source who is going to release Obama’s Kenyan birth certificate any day now.
Russia is also a white country that is not an ally, which is unusual. Russia is often used as the villain in Hollywood movies too. Meanwhile, China continues it’s march towards confrontation with the world, unabated.

Interesting analysis. If the Trump campaign knew they were being spied on, the best way to play it would be to pump false info to the spying mechanism.
