Ah yes, the Russian Bank “pings” that set the whole Russian thing in motion against Trump. Methinks someone in the CIA on behalf of the Clinton campaign used their tools recently described by Wikileaks to make it look like activity between Russia and Trump servers. Once that tidbit was operational, then all other motions could be set in place, such as increased investigations, surveillance and “wiretapping,” whether through FISA or the Five Eyes program.
Now the question is, who knew what and when? We now know the how and where. These are serious reporters doing serious reporting and they should be held in high esteem for actually doing real investigative reporting.

Exactly after first FISA was turned down (and they most times never are) they needed a just cause, so manufacture one by using the CIA hacking tools to make it look like server at Trump was pining ing the Russian bank to establish just cause. Then they could monitor Trump campaign in last days of the race.
I keep going back to Hillary thinking TX and GA were “in play” and they did not go to MI and WI and lost. Like a classic football end around mis-direction play. Did Trump camp fake them out with mis-information? A master Belichek style move if true.
