Why ObamaCare Cannot Simply Be Repealed… (Dont get PO at not total repeal. Not possible till 18)
conservativetreehouse (Treepers) ^ | March 7, 17 | Sundance.

FACT: ObamaCare was passed, using the original legislative vehicle, at 1:38am on 12/23/09 with 60 votes in the Senate. The House then approved that Senate Bill without changes; and in February 2010 created a secondary bill which created the opportunity for the Senate to modify ObamaCare using “reconciliation” for a lower vote threshold of 51 votes.

[Understand the full construct by reading HERE] If you do not understand how legislation is created; if you do not understand the difference between the Senate and House; if you do not understand the way ObamaCare was created, you really need to read this first.

A clean repeal bill, meaning a law to repeal the entire ObamaCare construct only, would require another 60 vote hurdle in the Senate.

Republicans, while in the majority, only control 52 seats. Without 8 Democrats voting to approve a “repeal bill”, any House (Or Senate) bill that repeals ObamaCare cannot pass the Senate.

This is why Mark Levin is a con-man; selling snake oil as outrage to keep a listening audience angry, yet clueless and hopeless. That’s what I don’t like.

A complete repeal of ObamaCare is currently impossible. The House Freedom Caucus can push all the repeal bills they want, but they cannot get a repeal bill through the Senate because they cannot get the 60 votes needed. Period.

A complete independent repeal bill of ObamaCare is currently impossible.

your r exactly right.

that’s zactley how the last repeal got to Obama’s desk.
Senate via reconciliation and House via vote.

see here

http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/08/politics/obama-vetoes-obamacare-repeal-bill/

It only required the House to have 2/3 to override the veto and they couldn’t do it.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2016/02/02/house-fails-override-presidents-veto-obamacare-repeal/79697108/

So why don’t they use the same process this time ?

Mid term elections 2018.

A Democrat talking point and a LIE.

Please call your members of Congress and tell them to vote NO on this disaster.

(202) 224-3121. Call your local office as well, and email them.

They will tell you that this bill is better than Obamacare. It is, but only marginally. Obamacare 2.0, as Rep. Justin Amash called it. They could do so much better.

It retains the Cadillac tax ? although it?s deferred to 2025. It repeals the individual mandate, yet re-enacts it in a different form by including a 30 percent penalty when you re-insure after being uninsured. IOW, the mandate via the back door. And refundable tax credits ARE subsidies.

Way too much like Obamacare. Only marginally different. The Republicans own it now.

I don?t want to tinker around the margins. I want to get rid of it. All the more reason why we must kill the bill, and we must kill it with Republican votes.

How about re-passing the plan Obama vetoed? Apparently, it had enough support to pass, so why not pass it now when you have complete control of the government?

Even better ? the Paul plan.

Fortunately, I don?t think Ryancare will pass the Senate, even if it gets out of the House. (They can lose 22 Republican House members and 2 Republican senators.) I believe there are already three Republican senators against ? Cruz,. Paul, and Lee. I wouldn?t be surprised if Sasse turns out to be a no vote also.

They might not even get the opportunity, hopefully. Amash has already declared against the Ryancare plan. Hopefully, the Freedom Caucus will stand against it.

We should deal with the pre-existing condition issue

No, we shouldn't - because pre-existing conditions are part of Obamacare.

Republicans should not maintain any ounce of Obamacare. Either all of it should be repealed, or the law should remain and then everyone from Trump on down should have to sign on to an exchange.

No Republicans voted for Obamacare. So therefore, no Republicans are obligated to fix it, repair it, phase it in 3 steps, etc either

We need to have this fight. No more accepting the premise and then the Dems lock it into law and it grows some more. Like Batman said to Liam Neesom on the commuter train at the end of "Batman Begins" - IT ENDS HERE!

Defund it.

Defund it and you own the consequences. Which will be horrendous!

Better than what they are proposing now, is to just do *nothing*. Do the best you can to put the blame on the Democrats, saying that for meaningful reform we just can't get the votes, so enjoy the suck, American people!

This ObamaCare-Lite is going to bankrupt us just the same (subsidies and tax credits are SYNONYMOUS!). Ibid government dependence. Aren't we about breaking dependence on government?

No cross-state competition? This was a problem *before* ObamaCare and one of the solutions the GOP always touted (and rightly so). So where the hell is it?

And the Cadillac Tax? Not gone -- just postponed for a few years! What is the sense of that? Punish an employer for giving employees a good plan? So we want everyone to have a good health-care plan, and if you get one, we're going to punish you for it. What the...?

If this is the best they can do now, then don't do anything at all! Blame the Democrats somehow, hope for the best, and know that you suck so bad that you deserve the health care all we peons have now!

So you want to cancel all the current policies issued by the Exchanges

What about the plans cancelled when Obamacare took effect? If you like your plan, you can keep it? $2,500 in savings? Where are their sob stories?

and terminate the Medicaid expansion in those States that have opted for it?

Our problem that Governors were stupid enough to drink the koolaid?

The Democrats didn’t bother blocking it because they knew Obama would veto it.

The problem with the three steps is that the uniparty will have the republicans lose the house and put the rats back in control. You saw this under bush after we busted his ass on amnesty.Use the rats rules against them which is no rules at all. Sh!tcan the whole affair.

This is all Ryan's doing. I think Trump is letting him take the lead on this and then Trump will use his negotiating powers to get something better.

My opinion, as I have eloquently maintained on this thread and have 18 years of FR battle scars and multiple bannings to prove it, is that a simple repeal vote should take place. There is simply no need for Republicans to replace something that none of them voted for. This is the Dems' problem, not theirs.
