....Moonlight won the top prize at Sunday nights Oscars ceremonyafter some initial envelope confusion created a bizarre sceneand, despite the fact that the independent drama never made much of a splash at the box office. The movie, about a young, gay black man growing up in an impoverished Miami neighborhood, has only made a little more than $22.2 million in domestic movie ticket sales so far, according to Box Office Mojo. That made Moonlight the lowest-grossing Best Picture nominee at this years Academy Awardsand among the lowest ever for a Best Picture winnereven after generating months of Oscars buzz.

LOL!
Well that’s enough of a recommendation for me! Running out to the theater right now! ;)
I wonder what it feels like to win by affirmative action.
I would throw the trophy out with the trash.
I don’t know that its poor box office should have any bearing on whether or not it was the best picture. Something can be artistically “the best” without appealing to the masses. However, in the case of Moonlight, it is blatantly obvious that it won because it was about a gay hood rat, and they wanted to give a participation trophy to the blacks who whined about not winning one last year.
LOL!!!!
And currently in the process of transitioning to a gender-free person. ;)
Don't really want to find out either.
It sounds like it was more about somebody's difficult time growing up.
Riots in the streets.
Thee nigflic genre is not popular with regular movie goers.
LOL!!
There are a lot of bases to cover. ;)
FAKE NEWS has permeated the Oscars/Academy Awards.
It has now become the FAKE Oscars/Academy Awards for the foreseeable future.
I will no longer waste one second of my time (I never spent much anyway), on the Oscars/Academy Awards.
I will no longer give ANY WEIGHT to any awards/nominations by these BOZOS.
Ive read it only cost 1.5 million to make, so 22 million is still a good profit.
Get ready for lots of fag movies in the next few years. OH WAIT! They are already here!
That's downright racist.
But then, EBT cards were just distributed in California.
A trifecta!

SOON AT A THEATER NEAR YOU!! Young black man growing up in Montana discovers love for his white male sheepherder friend until a ram sheep comes between them!
Surefire OSCAR winner!
I just tune them out; change channels. Blacks are not:
The majority of our presidents and statesmen, Generals.
Not the majority of our professionals, medical professionals, scientists.
I always laugh out loud seeing one on screen looking through a microscope and sawing the focusing knob back and forth for ten minutes,) skilled craftsmen, architects, engineers...
I feel entertainment is now firmly an alternate universe.
I love my TV mute button and channel changer.
ROFL!!!
you kill me :)
He likes it?
I watched Arrival 4 times before thinking of turning on English subtitles, just to understand the dialog.
No other contemporary movie seems to have that problem for me.
Amazingly, it got an Oscar for sound editing...
Go figure.
I accidentally saw “My Own Private Idaho” with a girlfriend in a theater where the movie screens were screwed up. The only “gay” movie I ever sat through (she was intrigued with Keanu Reeves) and then I had to take a shower.
I hope that you were sufficiently ecologically responsible in water conservation to ensure that you did so with your girlfriend.
I tolerated the first 4 shows or so.
As soon as they leaped into the pervert muck (if they're aliens its OK, I think) I made my wife watch it upstairs.
In the last 5 years, at least a half dozen entertaining half decent TV series sank like a rock after they turned on the "pervert" switch on the writers.
Apparently they haven't caught on yet.
yes, but in the cultural context of the times, I am prone to think this was a “gift”.
I did see “Hidden Figures” and it was decent. Although I have heard that film also took liberties—that the toilets weren’t segregated and that John Glenn really didn’t ask for Katherine Johnson....if those reports are accurate, it disappoints me that the movie made a big deal about those incidents.
