The yearly ritual of submitting tax returns to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) may not be something most of us look forward to doing, but do we really want the federal government to do it for us?
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has proposed legislation that would require the IRS to offer you the convenience of doing your taxes for you. The actual bill would require the IRS to create programs that help taxpayers process and file their federal taxes for free. Sen. Warren says taxpayers spend, on average, 13 hours and about $200 for tax preparation services to file their tax returns. Of course, this is unnecessary (if not misleading), as there are plenty of free services available to most Americans.
Having the IRS take over the process of filing our tax returns is not an idea that will make America great again. Our tax system is based on the concept of voluntary compliance, and hollowing this out by replacing it with a government-run tax preparation system moves the IRS from a tax administration, collection, and enforcement agency on to giving “advice” to the people it’s taking money from -- a clear conflict of interest.
How long before such "advice" becomes mandatory?
Can American taxpayers trust the same government agency that wants as much of their money as possible to also decide which benefits and deductions they will receive? Even if such a system were convenient and free, would we really want it?

Oh hell no
More absurd would be Hunter S Thompson as head of the DEA. lol
High cheekboned squaw should run horse, not her mouth!
The fox in the henhouse approach. :-)
Gee, maybe the IRS can also take over casting votes on behalf of the low-lifes that claim they haven’t the where-with-all to have identification
"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824."
Once the states amend the Constitution to put a stop to unconstitutional federal taxes, the states will probably find a tsunami of new revenues that they wont know what to do with, establishing their own individual social security and healthcare programs for starters.
Fair Tax Ping.
I think that the automatic withdrawal should stop. Have everyone write a big check every three months like I had to do when I was self employed. It made me a conservative really fast. I remember my teenager wanting a used car but I had to pay taxes instead. About the same amount of money.
Instead of the people receiving a paycheck and sending a portion to Washington DC, how about Washington DC receives our paycheck and sends a portion back to us?
You know you want to do it... just admit it...

Actually it’s not a bad idea. The IRS already gets automated feeds for income, investments, intestests, w2’s, 1099s.
The IRS could send out a precalculated return that says
“This is what we calculated for you.
If you don’t have any other income to report such as items in this list and you don’t have any other items to deduct such as items in this list, then sign the slip at the bottom and return in the postage paid envelope.
If we paid a flat tax that would work out great. Instead of a W-2 we would just get the bill.
Why a great idea by waron. Why not hand a used car salesman a blank check and tell him to write in whatever amount he thinks is fair for that Jimmy Carter era Malibu?
What could possibly go wrong here. . . .? /Sarc
Are there any signs of his woman’s head caving in yet?
“How long before such “advice” becomes mandatory?”
Fauxahontas would like a “single payer system” where everything you earn is sent to the IRS by your employer. Then the IRS “doles out” a small subsistence “income” to each and every citizen. That way, they don’t need any Income Tax Reporting at all. You just have to take what they give you and like it. Fortunately, at least for the time being, you still get to manage your own money.
Hell no! There was a year an IRS auditor tried to cheat us and I had to lawyer up. The auditor decided not to go to court over it and I did not have to pay the 17 extra thousand dollars he was after. I really really wanted him to try to take it to court and wanted to be there when he presented his phony take on my taxes with a straight face....and hopefully ended up being penalized my lawyer fees. I do not want these bastards to have more power to abuse.
Wretched termagent. No. Thankyou
