Donald Trump has made his choice to replace Michael Flynn, and its hard to think of a better man. Lieutenant General H.R. McMaster will be the new national security adviser:
General McMaster is a former commander of the Third Armored Cavalry Regiment, my old unit. I served in Iraq with a host of guys whod served under McMaster in the Battle of Tal Afar in 2005, and almost to a man they loved him. I never served under him (I came along for the next deployment), but many of the people I respect the most were with him during one of the Iraq Wars most significant urban battles and came away deeply impressed. Indeed, Id call McMaster the Neil Gorsuch of generals. Like Judge Gorsuch, General McMaster is respected by his peers, admired for his intellect, and possesses an impeccable record of public service. Professionally, hes in the short list of the best of the best. (Seriously, read up not just on the Battle of Tal Afar, but also on the Battle of 73 Easting in the Gulf War where McMasters outnumbered Eagle Troop of the Second Armored Cavalry Regiment took on a numerically-superior Iraqi armored force and destroyed it in a mere twenty-three minutes).

Maybe it was because he was a General who followed his oath of command loyalty to the CinC. Regardless to whether he thought Obama's plan sucked.
The best part about McMaster is that LS insisted on it happening and the Trump administration knows better than to cross LS.
DON’T MESS WITH LS!
Well, it’s come to light that Gorsuch belongs to a very liberal church and may well be squishy...
Because they don't want a guy who EVER votes Conservative or Centrist.
If Blumenthal’s statement was a lie, both Trump and Gorsuch should have said so immediately.
But they did not.
Days went by until the feeble “out of context” excuse was finally delivered.
“But they did not.”
Wrong.
Kelly Ayotte was in the room and she released a statement. Look into it. Your version of events refer to Fake News.
I’ll repeat it one more time:
White was one of the original dissenters in Roe vs. Wade”
Gorsuch clerked for White. Gorsuch was a friend of Scalia.
Gorsuch was endorsed by a long list of conservative originalists. He has a long track record as a judge and you can’t point to a single liberal decision.
President Trump has put together the strongest diplomatic and national security team we’ve seen in generations.
Add to that Scalia’s views were informed by Orthodox Catholicism; Gorsuch goes to the same type of church that produced David Souter. Let’s hope for the best but we might be disappointed in many ways.
Well if he’s a George Patton type of guy he can’t be too enthusiastic about the homosexualizing and feminizing of our military. Maybe we’ll see some reversals there?
None of which neutralizes the facts regarding the nature of the “church” and abomination-inclusive “pastor” Gorsuch CHOSE to put his family under the purview of.
And, Scalia stated publicly that Ruth Bader Ginsburg was his closest friend on the Supreme Court.
Re: “Gorsuch has a long track record as a judge and you cant point to a single liberal decision.”
I read through that entire record this morning. I agree with you.
On the other hand, Gorsuch reminds me of John Roberts.
Every Republican president since Eisenhower has appointed at least one politically squishy Justice who starts moving to the center-left after confirmation.
The Democrats almost never make the opposite mistake.
I'm not familiar with the Truman and Roosevelt nomination record. But Byron White was the only Democrat “mistake” in the last 55 years.
Kelly Ayotte: “[Gorsuch] has also emphasized the importance of an independent judiciary, and while he made clear that he was not referring to any specific case, he said that he finds any criticism of a judges integrity and independence disheartening and demoralizing.”
I am not comforted by Ayotte’s statement.
Judges are human beings. They need to have their integrity and independence challenged EVERY day.
I am also disheartened and demoralized that center-left Senator Kelly Ayotte was chosen by Trump to shepherd Gorsuch’s nomination through the U.S. Senate.
I would have been happy with Bolton, but at least this is NOT General Betray-us, the globalist gun grabber.

“Read his book Dereliction of Duty and decide for yourself.”
Had not made the connection to him, thanks. Read that 15+ years ago, still have it.
Yes, he is “that” H.R. McMaster. His book resulted in him being PASSED OVER for promotion to brigadier general TWICE. One could opine: His book made him stink too much for the perfumed princes.
Exact same thing was said about Mattis. Neither one are Patton. Patton took out Rommel’s Afrika corp. Desert Storm was not WW2.
