It all happened so quickly. Water poured down the rapidly eroding hillside of Oroville Dam on Sunday evening. Engineers with the state had to make a series of quick decisions to avert a catastrophic flood.
When they weren’t sure it would work, the Butte County Sheriff’s Department made the gutsy call to evacuate tens of thousands of residents in a matter of hours. By Monday, state and local officials were working alongside the Federal Emergency Management Agency to determine the next steps in a still dangerous situation.
This is what should happen when people’s lives are in danger, this beautiful example of cooperation at all levels of government to resolve a crisis. Politics be damned.
But, I fear, that’s not how Donald Trump works. It doesn’t matter that most of the evacuees voted for him.
The president, incredibly, said nothing Sunday as people frantically fled three counties – Yuba, Sutter and Butte – in the nation’s most populous state. Instead, he tweeted about “fake news,” “enthusiastic supporters in Florida,” and how his “crackdown on illegal criminals” was merely about keeping his promise to rid the country of “gang members” and “drug dealers.”

As per “dutchsinse” the earthquake predicting channel on youtube, if you check the googleearth height above sea level, the dam top is at 900 ft, and the stream at the bottom is at 200 feet, for a drop of 700 feet. The river then further drops to either 28 or 20 feet above sea level at Sacramento. (I can’t remember, but you can check googleearth.)

Yes, SacBee (S for you know what), the fact is that (I remember seeing/reading them) until a very few days ago the nation was getting the equivalent of “move along, nothing to see here” from California officials and other state venues (maybe like you?).
The time to prevent the disaster was months/years ago when funds were allocated and work left undone because money was needed elsewhere for other things like illegals and high speed trains. Yet now with imminent disaster approaching, you and all your other bureaucrats throw up you hands and cast this black heart political stone. Fie on you. Fie on you.
Were it not that the people in that area are not the crazy liberal loons like those much farther south and westward to the see and it was these areas the ones in the pickle, I’d say they all can be evacuated using that high speed rail to nowhere. Sod all on you SACBEE.
