OROVILLE Immediate evacuations have been ordered for residents of the low levels of Oroville and areas downstream, according to officials with the California Department of Water Resources.
Officials say a hazardous situation is developing with the Oroville Dam auxiliary spillway. The operation of the auxiliary spillway has led to severe erosion that could lead to a failure of the auxiliary spillway.
Officials are anticipating a failure of the auxiliary spillway at Oroville Dam within the next 60 minutes.

Absolutely true, and the brown one was repeatedly warned over decades.
No worries, the democrat leadership in CA will put everyone on a bullet train to nowhere to be safe. No illegals or islamic filth will be harmed.
CA you are just plain effing stupid.
Prayers up!
I find it amazing that the official word went from “situation is stable” to essentially “run for your life!” within a matter of hours.
That webcam is at the top of lake pointing directly at the emergency spillway.
Pull the pin on this dumb azz!
California.....How’s the secession plan going?
from the lake side not the down stream side
Most people were calling for evacuation 2 days ago. Sure hope everyone gets out in time.
It’s never good for water to go over the top of a dam.
Freepers warned those near the dam to get out three days ago. Wise people did, because Freepers know these things.
Hope it ends up on Youtube....
Sorry for folks downstream....
It’s Bush’s fault!.....
good feed.
IO just saw a vehicle travel across it. You would think if it were about to give way that they would not risk someone’s life to cross it.
Well, the KCRA copter footage at this hour didn’t look quite that dire to me. They should know of course, but I always wonder about the whole issue of “code language”.
This situation is obviously outside of design parameters, judging by the news footage. The lake level has pushed the spill point laterally past the actual auxilliary spillway so that it’s flowing down a slope from a parking lot there.
So, is this a failure? The spillway itself doesn’t look like it’s being undermined, to my layman’s eye.
So, I have hope that the structure can last a while. It’s hour by hour, I guess.
