Israeli and French researchers to excavate ancient site of Kiryat Yearim, outside Jerusalem, one of the few unstudied biblical tels
One of the few remaining unstudied major biblical sites, where according to the Bible the Ark of the Covenant was kept for two decades, will be excavated by archaeologists this summer for the first time.
Organizers hope the anticipated study of Kiryat Yearim (also transliterated as Kiriath Jearim) will shed light on the sites significance during the Iron Age, the period associated with the biblical account of King David.
Kiryat Yearim is mentioned over a dozen times in the Bible as a Judahite town situated near Jerusalem during the period of the judges and King David the Iron Age, in archaeological terms.

According to 1 Kings 8:4, after Solomon had completed the temple:
"And they brought up the ark of the LORD, the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the tent; the priests and the Levites brought them up."
While it doesn't say explicitly that the tent of meeting was placed in the temple, I think it's reasonable to assume that if they brought it along with the ark and the holy vessels, they also placed it in the temple along with them.

Herod was Idumaean...Idumaea (Idoumaia) was the region south of Judah, the land of the Edomites (descendants of Esau, the brother of Jacob). The people had been converted to Judaism a short time earlier.
Mark 3.8 mentions Idumaea as one of the regions people came from to hear Jesus.

An archeology professor of mine, told our class how they found an Egyptian casket buried in Israel (the Pharaohs, did occasionally, control parts of Judea) with 2 male mummies in it. The hieroglyphs with it indicated that they were a couple, and were hair-dressers.
