Schumer: I have 'serious doubts' about Trump's Supreme Court nominee (Comic relief)

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said he has "serious doubts" about President Donald Trump's nominee to succeed the late Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court, the first sign of what is likely to be a contentious confirmation battle.

"Now more than ever, we need a Supreme Court Justice who is independent, eschews ideology, who will preserve our democracy, protect fundamental rights, and will stand up to a President who has already shown a willingness to bend the Constitution," Schumer said in a statement.

"Given his record, I have very serious doubts about Judge Gorsuch’s ability to meet this standard. Judge Gorsuch has repeatedly sided with corporations over working people, demonstrated a hostility toward women’s rights, and most troubling, hewed to an ideological approach to jurisprudence that makes me skeptical that he can be a strong, independent Justice on the Court."

Schumer pledged that the Senate Democrats will spearhead an "exhaustive" debate over Gorsuch's nomination.

"Make no mistake, Senate Democrats will not simply allow but require an exhaustive, robust, and comprehensive debate on Judge Gorsuch’s fitness to be a Supreme Court Justice," Schumer siad.

Senator Sherrod Brown

(D-Ohio) also blasted Trump's selection of Gorsuch, criticizing the judge's position on healthcare, business, and workers' rights.

“I cannot support any nominee who does not recognize that corporations are not people," the lawmaker said in a statement.

"The Supreme Court has enormous influence over the lives of everyday Ohioans, and any nominee must be willing to defend their rights to make their own healthcare decisions, collectively bargain for safe workplaces and fair pay, and to be protected from discrimination and Wall Street greed,” he added.

Democrat talking points are out:

Democrats are instructed to use the terms “serious concerns” and “serious doubt” repeatedly in all conversations about the Gorsuch nomination.

They act like the concept of corporate personhood is some extreme position, but it has been with us from Common Law. Their position is the extreme one...and clearly shows that communists run the DNC.

Chuck Schumer voted for him when Bush was President for the 10th Circuit Court Of Appeals.

At the time, he was mainstream. What has changed? Not Gorsuch but Schumer.

Schumer has a beef with Trump but let’s evaluate him on his merits.

There will be no filibuster. It's useless. The Dems will play their question and answer game and give him an up and down vote. End of story....

Schumer really has no power.

The 4/4 court did NOT favor Obama...

"Did he cry again?"

Chuckup and his demonic-rat buddies are shown in this video clip reacting with emotional intensity to Trump's Supreme Court pick (and to every other action Trump has taken so far, or will take in the future).

Trump almost won MN. But I’ll remind Amy she’s in the hot seat. Her and weird AL have numbered days left in the Senate.

I suspect Republicans to take the governor mansion and Senate seat in less than 2 years

I don’t think Chuckie means the same things that you do when he says those words. When he talks about fundamental human rights he’s talking about dirty old men using the little girls room and infanticide and the right to take other peoples’ stuff ‘cause they have more than you do.
