EXCLUSIVE: Whatever Trump does, Dreamers likely to be deported soon
The Sacramento Bee ^ | January 22nd, 2017 | By Franco Ordoñez

WASHINGTON - Young immigrants currently protected from deportation will be quickly removed from the country by President Donald Trump’s plan to boost deportations, even if the new president doesn’t target them directly, according to a former senior immigration official in the Obama administration.

Democratic leaders and advocates within the immigration community are bracing for Trump on Monday to eliminate several of Obama’s executive actions on immigration, including the deferred action program, known as DACA, that protects an estimated 750,000 immigrants brought here illegally as children.

Trump is not expected to immediately launch raids targeting the students, but fears among so-called Dreamers could grow as Trump executes plans to deport more than 2 million immigrants with any form of criminal records. In the process he’s inevitably going to sweep up many DACA students who will unlikely have the safeguards to protect themselves.

Only citizens and legal resident aliens can join the military, illegal aliens are barred from joining.
As it should be.

All of Obama's actions, such as letting illegal aliens stay, should be rescinded immediately. No excuse to delay. Monday, tomorrow, lets see all of them overturned and agencies told directly and simply to enforce the law.

Save taxpayer money by firing the hotline staff and put a recording in its place "Thank you for your visit to America, please don't let the door hit you on the way out."

DACA was a scam and it was never intended to help “Dreamers”, it was intended to make them desperate and and under the control of Progressive Democrats.

All it did was give them 24 months of deferred green card status - after the expiration of 24 months , the Government had your number and they would deport you unless there was follow up legislation to extend DACA or pass other legislation to normalize dreamer legal status.

It worked as intended and we saw desperate California Dreamers and their family and friends turn out in droves to support Hillary Clinton and to illegally vote for her under the understanding that she would extend their legal status and allow them to stay in the US.

The pressure was so bad, Dreamers and other illegals actually rioted and assaulted Trump supporters at a Trump rally in San Jose.

Unfortunately, they lost their bet and and by their violent actions they helped get Trump elected and they alienated American citizens who might have had sympathy for them before they acted like violent thugs.

“I KNOW they have to go, but maybe they could serve in the military “

I do believe if you serve in the military you get citizenship.

We don’t hate these people. Many are victims of their parents’ and some lousy politicians’ bad decisions.

I wish them no ill.

I doubt the Mexican people or the Canadian people wish me ill, either, but they’ll never let me be a citizen of their country, either.

“You would send an old friend of mine’s mother back to Italy at 80 because she’s not a citizen, wouldn’t you? :)”

These folks can stay on green cards.

My mother did from age 23 to age 65, just renewed every couple of years.

We are not that harsh. People just need to play by rules. We are far more open than most countries.

At 65 she became a citizen.

At 20 years old, they can leave and get in line to come here legally.

Deport ALL illegals-from 1hr to 100 in age. Every last one no exceptions. Then secure borders and defend them!

“Make employing illegals a jail time felony.”

No need to “make” it a felony. It already is a felony. All we have to do is enforce the law.
Anyone arguing to the contrary might as well be an Obama or Clinton Democrat.
This is Trump’s raison d’être: why he was elected.

http://americanpatrol.com/REFERENCE/AidAbetUnlawfulSec8USC1324.html

Section 274 felonies under the federal Immigration and Nationality Act, INA 274A(a)(1)(A):

A person (including a group of persons, business, organization, or local government) commits a federal felony when she or he:

* assists an alien s/he should reasonably know is illegally in the U.S. or who lacks employment authorization, by transporting, sheltering, or assisting him or her to obtain employment, or

* encourages that alien to remain in the U.S. by referring him or her to an employer or by acting as employer or agent for an employer in any way, or

* knowingly assists illegal aliens due to personal convictions.

Also: https://www.justice.gov/sites/default/files/eoir/legacy/2007/09/20/274a.pdf

Once you start making exceptions, or start following some sort of soft-headed act utilitarianism, the exceptions swallow the rule.
Illegal, but you want a `choice’? You’re outta here, unless you prefer prison.

So “dreamers” who have criminal records are going bye bye? And that’s somehow bad? NOT

We are FAR FAR more open.

I guess I was just playing a little devil’s advocate.

Besides, wouldn’t it be good for Mexico to get thousands of college educated people back? And tradesmen?

They can throw the rest in cheap Mexican jails :)

To be honest, I’d grant waivers to the ones who are getting good grades (A’s & B’s) in school. But only for a short time, because leftist teachers would immediately just give all of them A’s to keep them here.

I certainly hope that this happens, but there is no logical explanation here of why this will “inevitably” happen. Oh, silly me! Logic and leftists do not intersect.

I'm with you guys. It truly stinks to send those kids home. I see a lot of them working in grocery stores as cashiers and so forth, and it is terrible to think that they have to go to what is essentially a foreign country where they may not speak the language.

The real issue is the GD politicians who let their parents come here and stay, instead of enforcing the law all along. At the end of the day, it's the government's fault as it usually is.

All they need to do is start enforcing the laws already on the books.

Ping to Jim Noble upthread. Yes, our OWN children should have dreams. American children come first.

You really do not want to allow illegals to join the military.

Think about it, you are going to fill the military with foreigners who have no connection the country, bad idea. Sounds like something the Romans tried and it did not work out well for them in the end. Nope, you have to at least be here legally and then join the military.

One thing no one else has said: The dreamers get in-state tuition wherever they want to go, despite in most cases never having paid taxes. Meanwhile my wife and I, having paid Federal and state taxes for our entire life, do not get in-state tuition for our kids if they want to go to a neighboring state university. Being high income we have paid a lot in taxes....so our kids can get the shaft on affirmative college admissions, college aid (cause they are poor) and in state tuition. Sounds like a total screw job for us Americans and our children, we pay for the illegals, have less children as a result and our kids go to the back of the bus when it comes time for benefits.

No thanks throw them all out.

I seriously doubt that he will deport many millions of undocumented aliens. POTUS Trump is now stating that people who have committed crimes will be deported. He does not want criminals in our country who are not citizens. I think we all support him in this.

It is when we encounter people who are born in the USA and whose parents are not documented - that some common sense agreement will need to be made. Also those who grew to adulthood and have lived quiet lives, working and paying taxes - if they are not criminals, find a solution and a path to citizenship.

Still the number one problem is our unprotected border. It needs to be one of our first priorities - to enforce the border before any other accommodations are devised.
