Donald Trump Denounces Meryl Streep and News Media After Tough Weekend
The New York Slimes ^ | Jan. 9, 2017 | Jonathan Weisman and Maggie Haberman

“There was one performance this year that stunned me — it sank its hooks in my heart,” Ms. Streep said. “Not because it was good; there was nothing good about it. But it was effective and it did its job. It made its intended audience laugh, and show their teeth.

“It was that moment when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter,” she said, referring to a speech in 2015 when Mr. Trump shuddered and flailed his arms, appearing to mock a disabled reporter at The New York Times. “It kind of broke my heart when I saw it, and I still can’t get it out of my head, because it wasn’t in a movie. It was real life.”

Mr. Trump, in his inimitable way, spoke with Patrick Healy of The Times to respond to that attack — and then took to Twitter.

Barbra Streisand could sing like all hell.

I've listened to her albums from the beginning; played them over the airwaves too many times in the 60s 70s 80s, listened as Mrs. Resettozero still plays them occasionally. Barbra with the missing "a" was always a recording industry ploy and construct. Could hit a few notes others couldn't. Slept with the right people at the right time. Not very good at very many things, it is reported.

Yep, Streep’s movies were nothing much, all she has is her fellow libs patting her on the back at these frequent awards shows.

Hollywood always takes care of leftists.
And Hollywood hated Hoover but they are the mirror image - gayness and all.

Tough weekend for who?

Certainly not for Trump.

My sentiments exactly. It’s an opinion title. It’s kinda comical how they try to get those digs in now, but thanks to FR, Facebook, Twitter, etc. they are getting called out every time they try to skew the news.

Only real antidote is to quit going to the movies or watching Hollywood crap on T.V. Kill two birds with one stone since China now owns all our moviehouses. Most of today’s so called “entertainment” is crap anyway.

The old studio heads knew what they were doing. They knew how to make stars and make them loved by the public. Just look at the reaction to the death of Debbie Reynolds. Still loved years after she made her last movie. Ask yourself how many of today’s stars even last.

Half those people are mired in drugs and depravity. Were some of the old one? You bet, but we were never told about it

I was distressed to hear about Hugh Laurie making anti-Trump remarks last night. He was so good in House. Now I’ll never watch the reruns ever if they show up on retro TV. The miniseries for which he won was a good series. I watched it on Amazon Prime but won’t watch it again.

“The best part of her speech was her whining about America hating Hollywierd.”

Yep and newsmedia also put in the ‘vilified’ category.
Best i heard response, ‘hey, YOU earned it!’

Now go bake the dam cake!

Ah, celebrities. Is there anything they don't know?

I, for one, need more celebsplaining. I can't get out of bed in the morning without consulting first with Ms. Streep on what I should do.

I was drawn to assess her for myself

Me too, I suppose. IMO, much like Gwynneth Paltrow, George Clooney, and an unceasing number of other actors and actresses, they are who they are based on who they know, not on any real talent.

And with regards to the military, they're out actually doing important things, rather than congratulating each other on trivialities.

“It was that moment when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter,”

But that is false. Trump used the same flailing-hands gesture that many of use when imitating people who are dissembling or making excuses for themselves. Trump himself has used that same mannerism when imitating other people, such as Ted Cruz. Moreover, the disabled reporter does NOT exhibit those mannerisms.

People doing something they know in their gut to be important, are fulfilled by completing that job. Those who aren’t constantly need to be reassured that they are wonderful.

You’re overestimating her “appeal”

Today’s Hollyweird can’t produce likable actors nor watchable movies. Other than its technologies, it can’t produce a variety of hit movies, only the Star Wars BS. The comedies aren’t funny, the plots aren’t creative, there are far too many remakes (thus, admitting lack of originality) . . . even the animations are like, who cares? B O R I N G Contrast these with a list of movies from the 70s 60s 50s etc. See many classics nowadays that people will be talking about and having fond memories of years from now? Won’t be happening. Same with today’s “music” Originality, creativity and likability are gone

Streep is both a cause and effect. She’s symptomatic of what’s been wrong with the “entertainment” industry for decades, not ironically starting about the time she did

Eff her. She’s nothing more than white trash

Ann Coulter has said that the reporter’s “disability” is a slight twitch in one hand which is not really noticeable.

Apparently the “reporter” was well enough to travel in recent years to Wasilla, Alaska in order to harass Sarah Palin.
