The Monkees were a studio band created by Donnie Kershner for a TV show. The instruments were played on recordings by the Wrecking Crew until the guys managed to master the rudiments of music. This recording features Davy Jones, and the song went on to become a standard.

#2: The Monkees: “Daydream Believer”

Simon & Garfunkel: “The Sound of Silence”

The song's lyrics make no sense. They should go back to Hey, School Girl. Now that one rocked!

I’ve noticed that you don’t particularly like poetry or allegory. I enjoy it. The song made perfect sense to me, as did most of what they recorded. “Hey Schoolgirl” was an attempt to imitate the Everly Brothers.

I hate that it's freezing up on you. I'm not having that much trouble, but she's just crashed out right now. Worn out by mosquitoes, and since it's cooler tonight they aren't so relentless. And tomorrow her "me-time" ends for months. LOL!

Back in ‘65, I thought Simon and Garfunkel were trying to imitate the Byrds (they weren’t). Tom and Jerry do sound like the Everly Brothers, but I like ‘em better.

This is one of the most important recordings to come out of Motown. Gladys Knight had recorded an up-tempo, raucous version in 1967, but Marvin gave it a sinister, dangerous edge, setting the stage for a complete change of tone.

#1: Marvin Gaye: “I Heard it Through the Grapevine”

Aaaaawwww, poor Harriet. Glad she’s getting some sleep tonight. Mosquitos were really wearing her out the other night.

The stream doesn’t freeze. It disappears completely - - white screen where the video should be.
All other cams I check out work fine so it’s not my computer.

Good evening, mountainlion....are you all snug and warm and ready to greet the new year?

We were supposed to get a humongous storm, but only ended up with about 4” at my house.

I live at the end of a cul-de-sac, so we are last to get plowed. I’m glad we didn’t get the maybe 9+ that was predicted.

Everything is so white, and clean, and beautiful. And I’m in for the weekend so I can just look a it.

I guess all those thousands...38,000 right now...of new fans have just jammed the whole system!

You can hear the chirping of the baby inside of the egg now. Someone had a video....but it was FB and my downloader wouldn’t snag it. Darn it!

This would become one of the most successful heavy metal bands in the game, made up of veterans of other bands.

A butchered version was released as a single, shortening the simulated sex. This is the album version that would play on FM Progressive Rock and later on oldies stations.

#6: Led Zeppelin: “Whole Lotta Love”

Tune in tomorrow night for our lead-in to Happy New Year.

There were over 60,000 at one point today. I don’t think they’re set up for that much of a load and will have to get more bandwidth.

That happened to the berry nest cam and now they have short ads at the beginning so they can cover the cost. Thankfully, they don’t continue to pop up like they do on U Stream.

I love it when the chicks can be heard chirping inside the eggs. Just too sweet. And even sweeter when the parents kiss the lil beak poking through the pip.
