Soon after his inauguration next month, President-elect Donald Trump will nominate someone to the Supreme Court, which has been hamstrung by a vacancy since the death of Justice Antonin Scalia in February. There will be public debates about the nominees credentials, past record, judicial philosophy and temperament. There will be Senate hearings and a vote.
No matter how it plays out, Americans must remember one thing above all: The person who gets confirmed will sit in a stolen seat.
It was stolen from Barack Obama, a twice-elected president who fulfilled his constitutional duty more than nine months ago by nominating Merrick Garland, a highly qualified and widely respected federal appellate judge.

The real butt-hurt hasn’t even commenced! This is too delicious.
“Actually, I just read that several floors of their offices downtown NYC are being vacated. Its a good sign that things are dicey with them.”
Yes, it’s EIGHT FLOORs and the vacating of this space came with further “staff reductions.” What I hope happens is that his worthless, no-working relatives, when they find that he’s pi$$ed away their trust funds, take Pinch Sultzberger out in the woods and “leave him there” with serious physical problems.
“Supreme Court nominee will be filibustered, at least for a while, in response for Merrick. “
Apply Reid Rule.
“Now get Ginsberg and Breyer out and you get 3 young conservative justices in there. Trump needs to go balls to the wall and put Ann Coulter in there lol.”
Coulter? No. Ingraham or Crowley? Definitely.
If, it turns out that Obola really was an illegal alien, the picture will look like he “stole” two SCOTUS seats from us. The Wise Latrina, and the Fat Yenta should be removed from the court being that they were appointed by someone who didn’t have the authority.
If the GOP gets a filibuster-proof majority in 2018, then Pelosi and Schumer will never be able to do such.
I’m thinking the Dems will try to block the nomination(s?) all the way to 2018 - unless we can lure eight across the floor. A few might be willing to bite (to save their jobs against pressure from the DNC machine) but can eight of them do so? That said, there are 10 Dem senators in Trump states...even though several of them are hardline liberals.
Either way, by 2019, there will be several constitutional conservatives new to the bench.
It’s always a good thing when the NYT globalists are butt hurt.
I’m not going to bother with the article. It suffices to say that all Obama had to do is nominate someone acceptable to both him and the Senate GOP majority and he’d have gotten to choose Justice Scalia’s replacement. But that would have taken compromise, something not in Obama’s toolbox.
So instead he gets a lump of coal in his stocking, to be followed up by the likely nomination of a candidate far more conservative than he would have gotten with compromise.
Just another example of his inept presidency. And if a President Trump is well organized, most of the rest of Obama’s “legacy” will be in tatters by next Christmas. Good riddance to it.
Same thing here. But I first let out a yell that got the dogs barking
I love the smell of burning liberals in the morning.
I still think Scalia was assassinated in an attempt to steal the seat and install a leftist replacement. Thankful that the ploy has been glheld off.
That Supreme Court seat was stolen from Barack Obama? The N.Y.Times has been sniffing glue again.
Since when is the Court owned by any President? The Justices are approved by the congress not the President. In this case the Congress wisely decided to take no action.
It’s no wonder the times is loosing readers.
Presidents don’t “own” SC seats...just as the Massachusetts Senate seat wasn’t the “Kennedy seat.”
Exactly. Very conveniently selective amnesia. But unfortunately for them, we’re not afflicted with it. We remember. They even made a verb from what they did to Robert Bork.
“The Dems were ecstatic when Scalia passed away”
In one of the Wikileaks email communications written by Chelsea a few hours after Scalia’s death, a person could infer that his passing away wasn’t exactly a surprise. (If you catch my drift.)
Actually, Obama was a fraudulent President, foisted upon us by deceitful, biased media covering up his radical nature and past activities. None of his picks were therefore legal. Kagan and the wise Latina should be sent packing as they were fruit of the poisoned tree.
I tend to look at it as such....
He who steals eventually finds valuables stolen from himself. It is called ‘Karma’
Have a white tissue BO’B
`Advice and consent’. The electoral college. Immigration laws. One man, one vote. A strong military. National sovereignty.
Democrats, their GOP-e allies and MSM—Uniparty—were destroying America.
It can’t be said too often: the USA dodged a fatal bullet last month.
Stolen? Yes. Stolen" from Prince John, and given to the people. The Republican Senate majority gave the issue to Donald Trump, who ran with it by listing a fair number of people whom he would consider for appointment. True, he did not give only one specific name, he did better than that. Each one of those names constituted a vulnerability which could damage Donald Trump if in fact there was anything wrong with any one of them. The Democrats had the opportunity to evicerate the Trump candidacy by saying, Judge So-and-so is bad for America for the following reasons. If you vote for Donald Trump, you are voting for Judge So-and-so for the Supreme Court. Vote Democrat.
Where are all of those attacks to which Mr. Trump made himself vulnerable? They dont exist, because the Democrats were not interested in submitting the issue of judicial philosophy to the people. Guess what, Democrats? Now it is too late. Now Mr. Trump has a whole list of names in his pocket - and there is no justification for subjecting any of those named individuals to extended debate (read, filibuster).
