A "shameful" abstention by the U.S. in a United Nations Security Council vote Friday allowed passage of a resolution condemning Israeli settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank.
The resolution was put forward by New Zealand, Malaysia, Venezuela and Senegal after Egypt withdrew it Thursday under pressure from Israel and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.
It was adopted with 14 votes in favor, to a round of applause, after U.S. Ambassador Samantha Power abstained. It is the first resolution the Security Council has adopted on Israel and the Palestinians in nearly eight years.
Reaction from U.S. Republicans and Jewish leaders around the world was swift and sharp.
"This is absolutely shameful," said House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis. "Today's vote is a blow to peace that sets a dangerous precedent for further diplomatic efforts to isolate and demonize Israel."
The Obama White House, under heavy pressure from the Israeli government and its supporters to veto the resolution, kept everyone guessing until the vote whether it would stop shielding Israel from council resolutions and permit it to pass by abstaining.

And he won the Jewish vote overwhelmingly twice.
I guess the connection is gone for many.
Already, Netanyahu has canceled a planned visit by Senegal to Israel. More to come for sure!
As the juvenile delinquent is going out the door of the WH that its resided in for the last 8 years he gives his middle finger to Israel.
FUBO!
This was a payback to the US Citizens of flyover country.
Obama is going to be a little crybaby for until inauguration.

Make sure not a penny of our money goes to these countries.

Every Christmas season in this administration has been met with something controversial. I wonder what they’re going to do Christmas day when no one is paying attention. I’m fairly confident they’ll find something to make people angry about.

Let’s hope for the positive outcome of this being slashing our budgetary commitment to this useless body of blowhards.
My comment was directed concerning those with Jewish bloodlines.
I understand your perspective, but if born a Jew you are always a Jew.
God will deal with those that have veered off the path.
He’s very good at that and the Bible explains it quite well.
Kerry’s ‘peace process’ is to unleash the American funded ‘Syrian rebels’ on Israel.
Trump should have vowed to take the US out of the UN if this passed!
What else would we expect from a radical Muslim in the last days of his chances to destroy Israel..... and the US.
The United Church of Christ agrees with the majority of Christian organizations when it comes to Jews so I don’t see any buffer between them.
Unless your church specifically says not to evangelize to Jews, then it’s just as guilty.
Wow, talk about a change in US Policy. And they excoriate Trump for taking a call from Taiwan’s President.
Actually, you are getting into the issues of Zionists and Zionism, but that is for another time.
Quite frankly, I am a Christian who thinks he IS better than some others. Not those who are intellectually challenged, but those who do little with their God-given intellect or other talents, whatever they may be.
If that makes me a Jew.... well, so was a certain carpenter.... and Mazel Tov.
Kerry is going to help Obama screw up the world and advance the Umma until his last breath.
Perhaps some ISIS 'pilots' could be trained to fly a plane into UN Hdgtrs. And then we disallow them to rebuild on American, i.e. US soil. Best time for this is when the UN is in session.
