For months, we listened as the polls, the media, and the general public opinion all vocally favored Hillary Clinton to win this year’s presidential election. The transition was already starting to happen, and even the most confident Trump supporters couldn’t help but start preparing for a loss. Yet, Trump ended up with 306 pledged electoral college votes to Clinton’s 232. It wasn’t the biggest landslide in election history, but it was an unprecedented margin of victory for a candidate that was almost written off.
But was this a fluke? Was it the strange alignment of random variables that allowed this to happen, or was Donald Trump destined to win from the beginning?
The What-If Scenarios
Since being confronted with the election’s surprising results, liberals and media figures have been scrambling to pinpoint a root cause for the upset, as if it was some single trigger that caused a reversal of momentum. These people have been playing out various what-if scenarios to uncover what, if anything, could have gone differently.
For example, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid recently suggested that the FBI Director James Comey’s actions during the election were responsible for both the presidential and congressional election outcomes. Comey ignored intelligence of Russian interference, and arguably mishandled the investigation of the Clinton email scandal. Had he not taken these actions, Clinton would have had a stronger lead.

It maybe that the voters were fed up with a certain political family.

Mostly it was a pissed off electorate and very hard work by the candidate and his staff
The entire election shows there are many average people who will not take the DC BS anymore. This is all we have. Now praying Trump turns this around. Millions of people out of work and BO showing record low unemployment? Anyone can cook the numbers. Problem is no one wants to point it out,
Many factors were involved, but believe it or not Michael Moore said it best: “Trump is a human molotov cocktail”.
No one in the Media will say it, but America was SICK AND TIRED of Obama and the Left and the only way to punch those arrogant a-holes in the mouth and not go to prison was to elect Trump.
IMHO, Trump WILL be a great President because he understands the key to success in America is to GET OUT OF THE WAY of her people.
They kept saying he had no path to victory in the electoral college but that was a lie. He was favored because Hillary had too many votes lodged in NY and CA.
America had come to its senses and rejected the Marxist policies of the democrats - policies disquised as “liberalism.”
IMO and I worked on Trump Campaign in southern OH. He never lost momentum even after they threw all the negative stuff at him.
Main reason he won was when he announced and came down the escalator and took a stance on Illegal Immigration. No politicians wanted to touch this 3rd rail for fear of alienating Hispanics, BUT everyone I ever talked to, especially immigrants who came here legally were mad as hell about it. Are we a country or not?
Then Hillary, with all her Clintonian baggage was never likable, even back in 1992 she was finger nails on a chalk board.
I could not see how he could lose honestly. Why would anyone vote for her unless you were a Lib Kool-Aid drinker?
I agree, and I believe to that he will be a great president.
I think we owe a debt of gratitude to whoever released all the documents that shed a light on Hillary, The DNC, and the press. Call it the Russians, the FBI, Wikileaks and of course Judicial Watch. They did the world and especially America a great service. The world got to see the corruption. It was bigger than Watergate. For those who understand both, its easy to see that Watergate was nothing in comparison.
Now the question is, will the press reform itself. Will the lobbyists lose their effectiveness. Can we shut down the sale of our government. Lets see.
I am all in to conventional wisdom and I still cannot wrap my mind around how Trump won the presidency especially given his character flaws and abrasive personality. Therefore I must accept divine intervention as the means and a last chance for America as the why.
He talked to anyone who would listen. He called in to every radio show that would put him on the air. He did 4 or 5 rallies a day and more, every day, for over a year. HE HUSTLED. And in between all the above he was twittering. Hard work. Something half of America can not grasp.
The only question for me was if the left could steal the election by manipulating the vote count.

No question Hillary was a bad candidate. Yes, people did not like her. But yes, she lied right to the camera over and over. And yes, people lost trust in her. So, when she could have come straight out and said she was feeling under the weather. Or taking some meds. Nobody believed her. And yes, she did not work that hard. And yes, she spent the time that she did work, gathering money in rich mansions filled with people trying to buy her. So no, people were not going to vote for her.
1. Hillary could NEVER deflect the accusations from the book Clinton Cash. We now know that Hillary put up that private email server to hide much the activities of the Clinton Foundation.
2. Once WikiLeaks unveiled the tight link between the mainstream media (MSM) and the Democratic National Committee in late July 2016, it completely destroyed the credibility of almost every traditional news outlet. That's why Hillary Clinton tried to discredit the so-called Alt-Right with what I call the Art Bell conspiracy theory speech in late August 2016, and gawd, that speech backfired on her massively.
I was excited when Trump entered the race because he was shaking things up. Chalk me up as a rabid anti-establishment guy.
I voted from Cruz in the Virginia primary, for what good it did.
Shortly after the primary, I came home from work to research internet articles about what those in the church were saying. I came across the Fireman prophecy from 2011.
Over the next few weeks, I read it again and started to watch the rallies. I saw something in Trump that amazed me. He listened to the crowds and he seemed to draw energy from them. Then I understood his personality needs the input of others so that he can act properly.
Then the debates happened and we all watched as Trump stood his ground in ways that offended many of us.
I continued to read comments about Trump being like a Cyrus, but then the wikileaks started to drip out.
I have had an inner emotion that is as close to anger as anything I can understand every since this nation and the voting process installed BHO as POTUS44.
In the church, we were told that our sin gave us POTUS42 (Clinton) Now did our sin give us what we have today? I have been in steady prayer for 8 years for our nation. I believe tens of millions of Americans have been calling out to G_D for redemption from our sinful state.
On the lead up to the election. I had no doubt that Trump would get it. I did not watch MSM news the night of the election. I was not going to give them the satisfaction. The gall of the NY Times webpage showing HRC as the winner, but the joy as the evening progressed as that percentage slowly moved into the RED.
We all have seen Mr. Trump as an honest man showing his heart on many issues. Now we rejoice in his cabinet picks and his 100 day agenda.
We at FreeRepublic are like the watchmen on the wall looking out and giving our report. And we have much to report in the days, weeks, months and years ahead.
My experience tells me there is a complete disconnect not only between published unemployment figures and real figures, but between what employers need and what they can get from U.S. workers. It makes no sense to see hundreds of “Help Wanted” signs and ads all over the place, while at the same time we have 95 million people out of the work force.
