Apparently Trump's recent letter to the Energy Department, which included very pointed questions about climate change research, and/or his appointment of former Texas Governor Rick Perry to lead that department going forward (a department that Perry proposed shutting down back in 2012 for those who may have forgotten), "triggered" California's head snowflake, Governor Jerry Brown, into an epic climate change rant before a gathering of scientists at the American Geophysical Union's national conference in San Francisco.
Vowing to defy Trump's efforts to undermine the "progress" made by California on climate change regulations, Brown promised that his state is "ready to fight."
"We’ve got the scientists, we’ve got the lawyers and we’re ready to fight.""Some people say that they're going to turn off the satellites that are monitoring the climate. I remember back in 1978 I proposed a satellite for California. They called me Governor Moonbeam because of that. I didn't get that moniker for nothing. And if Trump turns off his satellites, California will launch it's own damn satellites. We're going to collect that data."
Apparently, Brown is also not a big fan of Rick Perry ...
"I remember our new Secretary of Energy, he was coming to California and saying 'come to Texas because we have all the jobs in Texas.' Well, California is growing a hell of a lot faster than Texas. And we got more sun than you have oil."
Meanwhile, Brown also took a shot at "fake news" outlets like Breitbart who decided to poke fun at his new regulation passed back in September that requires the state to cut methane emissions from dairy cows and other animals by 40% by 2030. Brown apparently took issue with a Breitbart headline that declared he was attempting to regulate "cow farts."
"The measures on methane that I signed into law, Breitbart and the other clowns talked about cow farts. That's what they reduce. Everything's reduced from seriousness to a joke. Well, it's not a joke."
While we're not sure which organizations he's referencing with his "other clowns" comment, we tend to agree with Brown on this front...no serious news organization would ever post such a ridiculous headline about "cow farts."

Gov. Moonbeam, what is the distance from California to the Sun? What is the distance from Texas to the Sun? What is size of land mass of California vs. Texas?

Actually it was early in the 2016 election cycle when Perry flubbed on which departments to get rid of. In 2012 he was too busy calling us Amnesty-deniers ‘heartless’.
But, as it is, while still a lousy governor here in Texas, he did get some things right. He instinctively knew that expanding Medicaid under Obamacare would not end well, so he didn’t, and he instinctively knew that Common Core was bad news, so he didn’t grab the apple (i.e., free money) offered by Obama to implement it.
He’ll do fine as Energy Secretary and I think he was the first major Texan politician to latch on to Trump (although more likely out of desperation than anything else).
I love that phrase “settled science”. No such thing. Hell, even GRAVITY ain’t settled science.
So how much is Brown making off these cow fart bags?
Brown got the monicker 40 years ago of “Moonbeam” because he was a nutcase then, and has only gotten worse with time.
An unchecked influx of illegal aliens isn't "growth" and is actually has a suppressive effect on the economy.
I can't wait until Trump starts halting the flow of federal dollars to "sanctuary" cities. The way things are going now, at some point, even the rich (and stupid) Hollywood elitists might find conditions too dangerous outside of their compounds and decide to move.
Oh well, no matter, it fits him perfectly.

As I understand the measure, most of the effort would be directed at changing the cow diet to more expensive feed. What effect this would have on milk quality and the cost of milk has yet to be determined. But you can be sure that government regulation will lead to higher prices making California milk more expensive and hurting the dairy industry. And, like pollution, it is illogical to think that cleaner air over one state will remain there. Based on a recent documentary I saw on underwater volcanoes and their release of methane gas in large quantities, the whole idea that we can regulate methane in the atmosphere is ridiculous. California continues to push the boundaries of rational thought.
Maybe it’s just me but “expression” on the cow’s face made me laugh.
I remember when home made manure to methane digesters were a big Eco thing back in the early 1970s. Make your own cooking gas! They were even designed for Arabic nomads using camel dung. Went over like a lead balloon.
I pray California could secede and take its 55 electoral votes with it.
