Marijuana Goes Mainstream: Newport Cigarettes to Introduce 'Marijuana Cigarettes'
PJ Media ^ | 12-15-2016 | Michael van der Galien

Posted on 12/15/2016 5:44:24 AM PST by Michael van der Galien

When social conservatives told libertarians (of which I am one!) and liberals about their fears that legalization of marijuana would cause a domino effect, they were blasted for supposedly using a 'slippery slope' argument. 'Stop nagging,' we told those conservatives, 'it won't be that bad! It's just that people who use marijuana right now won't be punished for it. Won't that be a considerable improvement?'

Well, perhaps not so much:

Newport Cigarettes, one of the world’s most popular cigarette brands, announced today that they will join the marijuana legalization trend and start producing marijuana cigarettes. Reynolds American Inc. Chief Marketing Executive Lawrence Harrison said in an interview, reports OrganicAndHealthy.org, that Newport has monitored the marijuana market for quite some time. Once the soft drugs was legalized in Washington and Colorado, the cigarette company decided to go all in and start selling marijuana cigarettes.

And here's the kicker: although advertising for tobacco products is illegal nowadays, the company has 'set aside an enormous $7 billion advertising budget to market the new “Newport Nirvana” brand.' Newport is currently in negotiations with 'major networks and publishers' to 'market' the product to their audiences. In fact, Newport has already started advertising on billboards and in magazines in both Colorado and Washington.

If it is widely available, then there is a market already. I would buy them if I could just ease my back pain.

I can't wait for Betty Crocker to make some brownies!

C’mon. Propaganda produced by Harry Anslinger almost a hundred years ago was the original Fake News.

Enemies of America i bet right now are sitting grouped around like a scene out of a James Bond movie, like Spectre, to fund, legalize and invasively spread weed through America to weaken it for ultimate control. Islam would DEARLY love a stoned America to control.

The darkness of Evil will use weed as its tool, that is the next war approaching America.

So let me get this straight...

1) You’re completely ignorant of cannabis and are still mentally stuck in Nixon’s Drug War

2) Your desires on this topic can be accurately described as totalitarian/Fascist/nanny state

3) As should be no surprise from point #2, you’re yet another foreigner come to America to tell Americans what to do

4) You’re against both free expression and free markets

5) You’re a total liar when you say there’s anything libertarian about you (whether you’re lying to yourself or to others or both, remains to be seen)

6) and you’re a blog pimp

The standards at PJ Media have really fallen, and you’re an embarrassment to everyone you claim to be affiliated with.

Go back to your home country.

I think you’re correct, it’s the same with vaping - it’s subversive on some level and people like that.

It’s a simple way to take away your 2A rights. Legalize pot in the states while keeping it illegal at the federal level. Every user is a federally prohibited person and commits a felony every time they touch a firearm or fill out a 4473. Sure, they may not get caught, but have any interaction with authorities and it can go downhill fast.

I think the key words are “similar volume.” I bet pot heads in the 60s burned more cannabis than today’s tokers have to.

Seed companies are now offering strains with higher CBD and lower THC for those who like less potent buds.
