Star Wars isn’t political, says Disney chief responding to boycott by Trump supporters. He’s wrong.

At the Saturday premiere of the latest Star Wars film, “Rogue One,” Disney chief executive Bob Iger offered a curious reading of the upcoming movie. This entry to the behemoth science fiction franchise was not political, he said. At all.

“Frankly, this is a film that the world should enjoy. It is not a film that is, in any way, a political film,” Iger said to the Hollywood Reporter. “There are no political statements in it, at all.” He added that he was “very proud” of the diversity of the cast but that, too, was “not a political statement, at all.”

Iger was eager to play down political tensions in a fictional far-off galaxy because he had been asked to respond to an all-too-real boycott percolating through social media: Dump Star Wars. “I think the whole story has been overblown and, quite frankly, it’s silly,” Iger said to the Hollywood Reporter. “I have no reaction to [this] story at all.”

The film’s ending was reshot to undermine President-elect Donald Trump, according to boycotters. Disney poured millions of dollars into the movie to give “Rogue One” subliminal, anti-Trump messages. If you voted for Trump, well, the minds behind Disney’s Star Wars hated you.

130 lb. women with D cups physically destroying 4 or 5 men simultaneously.

Of course. Which is why, according to Hollywood, we desperately need women in combat.

What could go wrong?

>>Did you really write that in 10 minutes or was it a paste?<<

Paste.

Not long after I saw the movie I had to do SOMETHING to let out my deep disappointment.

Thus, the synopsis.

:)

Well, it was more entertaining than the film. JJ has turned out to be a Democrat bundler doucherocket.

I see a ton of good reviews on the web.....which means it sucks.

Just like all the expert election polls. Disney probably spent a huge chunk of money on buying the reviewers. This film is supposed to bring in billions to the theme parks. No negative reviews will be allowed!

I’ll wait for it to come out on bluray.
Not interested in the theme park either. Too expensive

I already bought two tickets. We’re seeing it at a 2 AM showing - the only time we’re both not working.

I’m seeing it with my oldest son at 7pm EST Thursday, so I will let you know how it goes.

Not a big SW fan, but he is, so we do it together (husband included). I am more of a Tolkien fan... the #1 son obliged me with all the LOTR and Hobbit premiers. And wasn’t too embarrassed when I showed up in cosplay for the evening.

Am I the only one to notice that this is the second time Disney’s remade Mulan as a live-action film and called it Star Wars? Warrior princess, black sidekick for comic relief?

Not only is that racist, if it’s Hilary’s campaign with better special effects, it’s hardly surprising that her base stayed home. Disney’s terrified that the public will likewise fail to show up.

Clap clap clap, loved it.

(And being a Tolkien fan, I appreciated the references to him being ripped off by Lucas/Disney (and others -cough- Rowling).

I look forward more to RedLetterMedia’s Half in the Bag review than I do the movie.

The scuttlebutt is that it has some gritty war-is-hell scenes modeled on Allepo and the US-Japan war in the Pacific. Not for kids.
