Students at Oxford University have been told to use the pronoun “ze” rather than “he” or “she” to eliminate discrimination against transgender people. Guidance offered in a leaflet by the students’ union advises against using traditional pronouns, arguing that doing so suggests there are only two genders. Deliberately using the wrong pronoun for a transgendered person is an offence under the union’s code of conduct.
Peter Tatchell, an LGBT rights campaigner, has welcomed the move, telling Mail Online: “It is a positive thing to not always emphasise gender divisions and barriers.”
He said: “It is good to have gender-neutral pronouns for those who want them but it shouldn’t be compulsory.
“This issue isn’t about being politically correct or censoring anyone. It’s about acknowledging the fact of changing gender identities and respecting people’s right to not define themselves as male or female.
“Giving people the ‘ze’ option is a thoughtful, considerate move.”
Cambridge University has also indicated that it would like to follow a similar path. Sophie Buck, welfare officer of the students’ union, said: “Events start with a speaker introducing themselves using a gender neutral pronoun.
“It’s part of a drive to make the union intersectional.”
And Franky Sissons, a transgender student at King’s College at Cambridge, said: “Gender neutral pronouns are good…It should happen in lectures too.”

I’m pretty sure the use of the same word, “ze”, for both males transitioning to female and females transitioning to male is not going to be acceptable.

And to think, fifty years ago students were rioting for “their” Freedom of Speech! Now they have it they don’t want YOU to have it!
I remember reading Anthem by Ayn Rand in high school. Rand wrote the novel in 1938. In her novel, personal pronouns had been removed from the language. The penalty for using one was death. I thought that was so far out.
I’m pretty sure the use of the same word, “ze”, for both males transitioning to female and females transitioning to male is not going to be acceptable.

Now, which way is which way?
Those wanting to be called he or she should scream discrimination and microaggression to the high heavens. Ze is equivalent to “it”.
Isn’t “ze” a microaggression against Spanish speakers who don’t have a native “z” sound (either “s” or “th” depending on the speaker’s native accent)?
Isn’t “ze” poking fun at people with German and French accents.
But of course it’s not insulting to reference he or she as ze.
These folks have gone Thelma and Louise on their P.C. road trip.
Sounds like something out of a 3rd rate sci fi movie.
I strenuously avoid trannies.
These buffoons are using way too many recreational drugs.

I’d like to dismiss this as nonsense going nowhere, but . . . a few decades ago the PC warriors created “Ms.” as an alternative to “Miss” and “Mrs.” They really could eliminate “he” and “she” if we stay passive because we’re too busy laughing at the morons.

How are we to even know which pronoun or form of address to use, without somehow coming athwart of an unknown and unknowable abusive “microaggression” situation, when dealing with hypersensitive persons who are so easily offended?
Two rules to live by:
1. Do not be overtly impolite. Couch your criticisms in civil language, but project your displeasure in no uncertain terms.
2. Do not be easily offended. Consider that others may not share your prejudices and biases, or even understand them.
Why would anyone want to go to a place for an education that forces you to deny reality and pay them to do it?
And how would one pronounce “gfy”...? G’fie? /s
There are many other occasions for which one might use “gfy”.
