Obama has never been portrayed in comedy in any way other than smart or the straight man talking to foolish people.
I remember as a teenager seeing SNL with Candidate Jimmy Carter as a super intelligent leader in funny ways. I got the impression Carter was a smart guy. The skits were funny, a little but not really that funny later when you realize all the stupid things he ended up doing.

Mildly amusing. But my favorite TV/political gag was the old Phil Hartman/SNL Reagan - when Hartman (RIP) portrayed Reagan as a doddering boob when the press was around, but a brilliant strategist and multi-linguist as soon as the reporters left the Oval Office.

None of us knew that his wife was that far around the bend. We thought they just had a “stormy” relationship not unlike many such unions in Hollyweird.
But she turned out to be a real lulu.
Like any comedy skit, not everything works. The Kazakhstan exchange was great.
